I hope you feel better today. sorry you weren't feeling well.

I hate having to cancel appointments, but sometimes it's just what you have to do. Your health is what's most important, and you need the rest to get better, which I hope is soon, Donna :hug::hug:

I am feeling better today. Or was till Derrick and I talked now he has
me concerned. He is coming out with Dale to spend the weekend with me. He is definitely having seizures. But I'm not sure how many or when exactly what is happening. But honestly with sleep ones I wouldn't know either. UGh, I hate this. We will work it out. I don't want his independence taken. So really have to work on this. Donna :grouphug: |
I'm so sorry to hear about this Donna :hug::hug:
What kind of things do you have to do when this happens? |
Well, its honestly been so long since he has had ones like this.
And more than 1 in 3 months. Which is really good for him. I will be interested in seeing what the doctor decides. I'm guessing the lamictal dosage will go up. But he is already on very little for that. Its okay. But other than that we usually take it from him. Like he thought he might have to call me at midnight, which he wouldn't usually consider after a seizure. So I knew it bothered him, and that he was worried. The numbness he used to fall asleep from. So we will see. He spent the weekend with me. I had planned on just having him call his direct support provider. But she was going to be gone Friday to Saturday some time. So I wasn't too sure I wanted to go in at midnight if necessary. Really glad for many reasons I didn't. It snowed on friday night, and then I had no heat all weekend. Have to wait till tomorrow to see if Dale can fix or a part has to be gotten. But yesterday and today we have had a small heater in the living room. And Derrick baked all day yesterday. 1 red velvet cake, 1 German chocolate(for Dan's Birthday) and two pans of brownies. And then he made dinner last night. And I made lunch of Sloppy Joe's and green bean casserole today For Dan's day. And we will have cake later. I sent the red velvet cake home with him. Its his favorite and part of the brownies. I think we surprised Dan that he wanted to make him a cake. Not that he is much of a cake eater, but he will get some. I took him back this afternoon. And we went and did some shopping. Donna :grouphug: |
such a lovely family!
bizi:grouphug: |
You are quite a baker, Donna! :)
I used to be like that, and I miss it. Everything takes me soooo long now and takes too much out of me, but occasionally I will make something... then eat most of it ;) |
I used to love baking. This was all Derrick this time.
Donna :hug::grouphug: |
Hi everyone,
I haven't talked about us in a week. Wow, Derrick will be spending the weekend with me. His provider's going to be gone to spend Halloween time with her daughter and granddaughter. Then on Sunday I'll take him back and take him to bowl with his special olympic team. I'm supposed to pick Layla up to bowl with them too. She isn't having a good transition right now. So I'm hoping this will help. She just isn't getting the attention she wants to a degree. But her mental health isn't the best either. Then on Monday Derrick will go to his third Halloween party, he is the drag queen this year. He is finally getting to do somethings, so its been nice. He also is in Best Buddies and so is his friend Grace. She is going to the Arc Party on Monday too. So its nice. He is being picked up by the provider we wanted. And will have lots more ways for transportation. They take their clients to activities and do things a lot more. And even when the buses are down they will transport to work. Devin and Meluvja, seem to be having problems with Will. I'll admit he can be a handful. And I know he is still getting up at night tryign to eat. He always will. He seems to have started playing his real mom against his dad more. And of course that hurts Devin's feelings. But he has to remember Will even if not Age appropriate will be a teen next year. Its expected. Meluvja's three kids are doing well. She has to have an hysterectomy the 27th of Nov. So I will of course help all I can. Dan and Kortni, and of course cutie Harmony are doing pretty good. Saw Kortni and Harmony, on Sunday. And have seen Dan every day this week. Weird never see that much of him. Kortni has finally read up on Autism, because I'm pretty sure along with her other orthopedic problems she falls on the spectrum. WIth head banging, and her sensory issues especially. And the in her own world things. But the doctor says she is to young to test, so I started a thread and let my friends and families tell her when there kids were diagnosed. Not letting anyone but her know who it was for. I think that is helping her. But she just accepted the possibility on Tuesday so it will be a little while. She is getting first steps, speech, OT, Pt, and will get feeding therapy soon. So I also think those specialist can help her learn about it. Now about me, I'm busy and picking up clients left and right it seems. I'm enjoying working, but get so tired when I have to run around all day. So I'm watching that I take my iron, Vitamin, calcium and Vit. d. Its been an interesting week. And I even bought Derrick some new clothes yesterday when we were in town doing his meeting. Donna :grouphug: |
It sounds like you and your family have been and will be busy for a while! I wish everyone the best :hug::hug:
Be careful you don't run yourself into the ground... leave some time and energy for yourself, Donna. Do you ever do anything nice just for yourself? |
Kay
Yes, I do. Just haven't for a while. I was going to get my hair colored tomorrow. But I've got this mess I can't figure out how to solve. But I will get it figured out. I will be having good times this weekend. Donna :grouphug: |
Yes, Donna,
Do take your iron, vitamin, calcium, and Vit. d. Good luck this weekend. M |
Yes, its called forgetfulness.
I always remember the iron after I get really tired. And I say utoh, I have been forgetting my iron. I had to buy more of the other. But when I have it all I take it. I don't want any worst Osteoporosis, and thats what would happen. I take a once a week med too. Now that one is really hard to remember. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
okay, such fun just life.
We own an house in Lafayette. Its one that was rented till just earlier this month. It needs lots of work for the next tenant. Or owner. Because Derrick has decided he will take it as an gift from his dad. He is the owner of this one. But the old tenant who is Derrick's provider just called. She had left her good wheelchair there, and its been broken into. Donna :grouphug: |
I'm so sorry about the break in! I hope there isn't too much damage or loss :hug::hug:
I'm gad to hear that you do do things for yourself  You can try to set alarms on your phone to remind you to take pills during the day. |
There was nothing taken. And sounds like the kicked in door was all.
So that is good, we will see. Its the one worry my husband has with the house empty Donna :grouphug: |
Spent weekend with Derrick. And we had an great time. We even
got the dogs an bath today, before I took him home. I went to watch him bowl, and of course took him. With the group that could bowl in town today. I'm so glad we found something I've never seen. It really seems to have made a big difference in his ball. He has been doing really bad, and there has not been an explanation as to why. He put his ball in an machine for 1.00 for ten minutes to clean it up and make even the wholes feel better. And he bowled lots better, I really big difference, from the first to the 4th games. The first was before. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th after. Wow, He was like 49 or 50, to 72, 94 and 96. He very seldom bowls 4 games. But I could tell at the end of the 3rd, he really wanted to. So I said, go ahead for the 4th game if you want. He was so much happier. Donna :grouphug: |
glad that derrick bowled better and that you had a good time together.

Derrick really seems to be your partner in crime :):):)

Well I had what I'd consider an good meeting with an school
and parents today. But the problem is the parent(mom) may not be exactly realizing how low the student is. I hope to get some closure for her at some point. SO she can start helping bring him into adult hood over time. We will see. Donna :grouphug: |
I have said this before, you are so good at what you do!
((((HUGS))))) bizi |
The bad thing was I had to cancel on two parents yesterday.
And one of them I can never get on Email. So I tried calling tonight to reschedule. She didn't answer and didn't call back. Just hoping she does in time for me to help her this week. I have inservice pretty much three days next week. And probably will only work if really needed another day. So if she doesn't get back its going to be another week. I am working to make back the time with both. The other one has an meeting, and then will call me tomorrow. Donna :grouphug: |
Ugh, there seems to be a real issue with one of my families.
And them not realizing when they give things in gtube it causes problems. And Tums isn't the answer for all kids. Especially when they aren't supposed to have. And yes, even though they will say not. I'm sure this mom told them. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
I hope that everything works out next week...
You are really working hard, and have a lot going on :hug::hug: |
Oh I will definitely enjoy next week.
I did hear back from the parent that they tried to bully into having an meeting technically with out me. They changed the time, So I could go. Guessing they got told one time, isnt enough. They have to be willing to work with parents. Donna :grouphug: |
Good for those parents for asserting themselves. They should work with the caseworker(s) they feel comfortable with. It's a compliment :)

well I have more news today.
1. I had sent an email to the company that handles Derrick's employment and paycheck stubs. I have never been able to get into his account. So they have had to send the things in the mail. But the guy at SSI, decided to give me a lecture as to how he wants them. And I'm going to have to call SSI and have a discussion with his boss. BEcause you can't bully someone by saying it has to be this way or else. HE doesn't like the fact I mail them in. Either text them, which isn't working or call them in. Which they don't acknowledge if you can get into the number. So I mail them . 2. Got called because my travel claim isn't using the correct information. Well its what I've been using, but I can't always get back to the correct area. So he walked me through, I think I can know get in the first time. Without that frustration too. 3. Waiting to hear what to do about SUmac our database. It doesn't like me today. 4. I heard from the director, and so did the parent. Of the cooperative that handles the special education. She wants a time to call the parent. She doesn't like what is going on, or is very concerned I asked for the state nurse information. Heehee, squeaky wheel gets answers it seems today. In less than two hours. No one but me, Derrick and his helper really understand my frustration not getting into his account. But the lady today said, it must really be frustrating. And told us what the problem was. Think fact that I'm his guardian made a difference. And the fact I cc: um about 7 to 8 or more people. Donna |
Well still putting out fires today.
I called SSI gave his income number. And found out who to complain to about the guy the other day. Found someone I am hoping the director will let take his case. She is sending me some things I need either way. Wrote and printed out the letter. Getting ready to find envelope and send it soon. Next I spent sometime with Dan. He is doing real good. And is even working to save some money. This is new for him. I'm impressed, he is talking about saving money to buy a vehicle. I then hear from one of my friends, who used to be one of my Volunteers in the county I live in. She is working with a mutual friend and was asking questions. Then to top it off, she is ready to come back as a volunteer. This is great. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
Donna,
That's good about Derrick and Dan. You do good work. M |
Whew! That's a lot of work on your part! I hope everything works out with SSI and the rest. I'm so glad that Dan is doing so well now :hug::hug:

Well seems Derrick is up for a review with his disability.
Not sure exactly what all they will want to do. But so far I filled out paperwork to try and explain the help he receives through his Job coach, and things Purdue does for him. I really am not sure what all is done. But I included the things I believe are needed to keep the job going smoothly. Most I know they do, but a couple I'm not positive about. Then of course Food Stamps has been messing his income. And things up, but I was sure this was coming. The only thing they wanted I can't get is the old employer to turn some paperwork in by next Tuesday the 13th, so I sent an letter explaining its not possible. And giving them the address. But I also enclosed all the pay check stubs. And everything else they should need. Except other than the date of the last pay check stub, I'm not sure what his last day was so I told them that. His provider, my friend will fax it all in this week for me. Next, Yesterday Derrick and I went to do some shopping for me some clothes. But this is the kid that loves to shop. So we also got an lot of Xmas shopping done too. Then because we haven't heard yet, he texted me this morning that he has black Friday off. Which he is really happy about because he goes shopping with me and his dad. I've been working Sunday and Monday for a couple hours with an couple of parents through Email. Which is totally fine with me. I've got two really rough cases. One I'm not sure till the parent decides to let the school special education department to help its going to get solved. And the other is really a mess. Wow, what a rough start to the month I've been having. Also referred another parent to someone in her area. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
I'm so glad you have such an eager shopping buddy!
I hope everything goes okay with Derrick's disability review. They can be sticklers, but it seems like you are covering all your bases. I'm sorry that you are having a rough start this month at work. I hope that after this week, things start to go smoother for you :hug::hug: |
Wow, this has been an incident after incident this week.
But that is okay I haven't run across one I can't handle I don't think yet. Now whether the parents will be happy with what I can , and will do is another thing. We will see, but they can do there own job. And take care of it if they don't like it right. But I will be missing parts if not the rest of this week until Saturday or Sunday. Have Kokomo with my sister's tonight. Then Inservice in Indy rest of week. Till Saturday then its district bowling for Derrick. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
I don't know how you juggle everything. You are good at this.
((((HUGS))))) bizi |
I just do what I can. I don't get it all done. I take my time
and budget it to who and what needs done. I haven't been to see my sister's in a while. But it just wasn't possible. But I didn't know my own sister Dee, is having lots of health issues. And that she fell at work, and is just getting back after a moth off. Thanks to workers comp, not getting into line with paying her. She has not been paid in a while. They made her a job of greeter at Krogers, till she can go back to the bakery manager. So it was nice to hear that. It seems a little girl told her she looked like she needed a hug today. Really brightened her day. My sister Diana has had a new car, for around 2 months. And 16 year old hit it after that 2 months. Ugh so sorry for her. Not sure if it was totaled or what this was the discussion heading outside. My sister Karla, was to tired to join us. Donna :grouphug: |
I hope that you have a good weekend with your sisters. I'm sorry to hear about Dee and Diana's misfortunes :hug::hug:
|
Oh I just had one night with my sister's.
Then I went to Inservice for work. It was good. I miss the times before when we stayed together in the rooms. But its okay, we have a room by ourselves now. Today Derrick and I went to his bowling. He did great an 96, 96 and 72 wow, He has never scored two in a row that way. He was so happy. He got an gold medal. Donna. :grouphug::hug: |
Congratulations to Derrick! :)
|
Yes congratulations derrick. way to go!
|
Derrick was so happy. He will go to state, but it wont matter to him how he places there. He knows that his average will go up. And that he was given an gift at district by scoring 21, 21, and then -4 points over his average.
So I'm thinking his average goes up to 85. But really wont know till he goes to state. But the thing was he was bowling way low because his bowling ball had real problems, which we fixed for $1.00 the last time before this he bowled. We were so surprised how he bowled so much like normal. I had an great time with him. I always do. Now I don't think I told you guys the really great news I got while I was at inservice. My granddaughter Harmony took 5 steps in between the first steps lady and her mom. And this is fantastic, because we weren't positive she would walk. But I thought she would. But you know I am optimistic. Anyway, she is progressing thanks to the foot braces, I keep forgetting their names. I knew the first time I saw how much better she stood that it made a big difference. She was here visiting her dad today. And me of course. She is a doll. And loves Minnie mouse and little einsteins tapes. Donna :grouphug: |
