Well Derrick got upset at work today. I hate those kind of
days. They are just really hard. But his provider, my friend is going to check on him. Donna :grouphug::hug: |
I am sorry derrick had a bad day.
bizi |
That is wonderful news about Harmony! :):):)
I know that you were optimistic, but still had concerns. I'm sorry about Derrick's bad day. I hope that his provider can cheer him back up  |
I am sorry about derrick.

Yes, Derrick went with her to take her other client home. He has
known this client for years. And we all know that her guardian her brother is okay with her bringing others with them. It honestly is good for the young lady. It looks like the girl that just took over his being in charge of him. For lack of better word. THinks that he should be used for dishroom, or other areas. But then when he was back in kitchen after an couple hour area of dish. She chose to tell an group of them that she didn't trust him to do an pasta dish, that another cook had been training him on. The other cook had asked if he could do it on his own. She would even let him help. So he decided to take today off, called in to tell them. Got told originally to call back one hour before today. The provider and him called back. He got I believe the big boss, who then asked the cook he had wanted to work under to come her his reasons for not coming in. She told him he could take it off, for that reason. They were busy getting ready for the thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. So he is off today and tomorrow which he is always off. So starting the week after Thanksgiving he will work Monday, Tuesday, be off Wednesday, Thursday and work Friday. I know we had all been wondering if working 4 days a week was too much for him. He just doesn't like to admit it. Donna :grouphug: |
I don't like how she decided to tell a group of his coworkers what she thought he could/couldn't do one bit! People in supervisory positions should know better than to do things like that to anyone because it feels shitty whether it's right or wrong. I wouldn't want to go right back to work either. Poor Derrick. I hope he feels better now :hug::hug:

That is exactly what my friend Shannon said. And he sounded so much better yesterday. And I'm sure that he had an great day today. He was taking Shannon to lunch, because he had an applebees gift card he wanted to spend. I had already told him he could take one of the ladies if he wanted to. So he was taking her. And then he, her niece Grace and her were going to the nutcracker this afternoon. So I'm sure they had lots of fun. Until the new group finally gets there act together and picks him up she isn't getting paid for the time she spends with him. So Im so glad he took her to lunch. Donna :grouphug: |
I'm going to guess no news from Derrick is good news.
I got an unexpected day off. Yah, I was so tired its welcome. We have snow and ice on the ground today. So I'm so glad all the schools got cancelled. I was to be at a case conference at 8:30 this morning, I was not looking forward to that. I hate early meetings. They just aren't fun at all. That driving in this mess even makes them worse. But alas I got a reprieve. And that was good. I'm not sure if it will keep snowing off and on all day. Getting ready to hear what the weather says for tomorrow. But I'm worried about tomorrow's meeting. And I'm not looking forward to taking Derrick to Indianapolis on Saturday, I'm guessing I'll get a call this afternoon from him. That is okay if we cancel. And even though I've already paid the $30 dollars for him to do the activity with the ersikine green group we just might cancel. Because the driving is not going to be easy. Because they had things cancelled today lots earlier than we did. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
I'm glad you got today off! I know how you struggle in the snow and ice as I do. We are getting our first snow tonight... 5-8"... yay.
I'm hoping no news is good news from Derrick, too. And I hope that the event in Indy is just cancelled, so that you don't have to decide whether or not to cancel yourselves  |
Derrick had an good day. His Job coach was there as promised part
of the day. And she told him to call her if he needed her at any part of the rest of the day. He said, his main boss the guy who hired him came in and asked the lady who made the comments if she didn't have something to say to Derrick. And she told him. She apologized for what she said. And I guess one of the other cooks had to apologize too. Not sure exactly, but something about he had said it too. Not that Derrick had known that. And she had learned he was talking about leaving the hall, and she told him she didn't want that. He was a good worker. And also explained she had no control over the students making him or the other temps do the dishroom, but that they were all doing the dishroom now not just him. And that if that wasn't true he was to tell her. Donna :grouphug: There thanksgiving is tomorrow. |
Derrick is out here for the weekend. Then back to the neuro
on Monday and work on Tuesday for him. Right now I don't have much next week. So I will have an light work week. But we will see what all trouble I can get into heehee. Anyway I finished my week with another case conference. Donna :grouphug: |
I'm glad that the big boss spoke to Derrick''s supervisor. Hopefully nothing like that happens again. I'm glad he is getting some time off, and hope that everything goes okay at the neurologist.
Personally, I hope you do get yourself into a little trouble... you've earned the right to have some fun! :) |
Well i guess there was more than just a speaking to the supervisor.
It seems the head cook at his hall is the other one that had to apologize to Derrick. And Derrick's boss had to inform his boss, that he had okayed this action. So his kind like bosses or co-workers all showed up at their hall yesterday to over see his job. And Derrick's supervisor is being re-assigned to the night shift for a while because of what she did. So starting I believe next week for a while he is getting a new supervisor. The head chef was also told that he needs to work with Derrick and the other temp that have safe serv's and start to get to know them. And I guess the situation with the putting them in to the dish room has kind of been figured out too. They are to share and rotate even in the same day the position. I guess on Monday, the head chef asked if the other person who has an safe serv, knows the dishroom, and she is being finished trained, what Derrick hasn't taught her. And even seeing if she can do what Derrick taught her correctly then getting the rest of the training from the head chef. He is taking it serious that he needs to change his thinking. Donna :grouphug: |
That sounds good to me...
I’m glad that his old supervisor is being reassigned to the night shift for a while... serves her right. |
Yes Kay it does.
He was really surprised but Purdue doesn't take bullying lightly. And his boss really doesn't want to loss him to another hall. Or at all. He knows this was the hall he wanted to come back to. Donna :grouphug: |
Well Derrick is headed out with my husband. He was coming tomorrow,
but his appointment tomorrow got cancelled. So he is getting picked up early. His dog Dobey is so ready. Yah. He is planning to do lots of cooking and shopping. Heehee, which is so nice. He is so nice all the time. Just life. Donna :grouphug: |
I'm happy Derrick is coming early! It will be nice to have a cooking buddy as well as a shopping buddy! You two really seem to enjoy one another's company, and are attached at the hip! :)
|
Kay
Yes, we have great times. His dog was so happy to see him. He has been spending time with me. Because Derrick wasn't home much. But you could tell he was starting to miss him. So now he is in his lap and I think he slept the best he has for a while last night. And Jake slept in the living room too. So I had a bed without dogs last night. Donna :grouphug: |
I guess a bed without dogs can be a good thing and a bad thing :)
I'm glad that Derrick and Dobie have been reunited. Pets really do miss their owners when they are absent, and I'm sure that Derrick missed Dobie a lot, too. |
Just for a couple nights, its nice to have no animals. So I can stretch my
legs and not have to worry about hitting one. But I am glad I have one to sleep with nightly. Just enjoy once in a while not having one. Especially when I can't stop coughing all night. We had a great 5 days, Derrick and I. Dale and Dan also on Thanksgiving. We loved Golden Corral and the thanksgiving food. We all then went shopping. And have been around all the days. Donna :grouphug: |
Donna, It's good to hear a good report of you, Dan, Dale, and Derrick
enjoying Thanksgiving. Also shopping.:):):) M |
Derrick and I went to the newest really neat community center
in Lafayette. They are on the bus route for him. Have lots of neat things. And on top of that I got him and I both signed up for the fitness and pool center program. We even got the discount by doing the buddy program. Luckily he can go or I can go or we can both go at the same time. Since we both want at times to go swimming and he needs someone to go with him. Because of his seizures. Until I find out someone is going to be able to go with him who has a membership, then it will be me. Also learned that his plan will be able to have an personal trainer at some point. So that will be the next step probably in January or February. Donna :grouphug: |
Derrick did great at bowling yesterday. For some reason though he
had a little trouble. But he still got a 4th place and was really happy. For some reason though between the 1st and 2nd games the score board wouldn't let them go to the next game. So they had to wait for I think 30 minutes. That is never fun. I was so tired when i got home, just wanted to rest and sleep. Of course I wish I'd known Derrick's computer was going to act up. I'd just have brought him and Dobey home so I wouldn't feel like I was ignoring him by not going back to town to try and fix it. Its not that I could fix it though. ITs going to take the husband or a new husband, not that its broke itself. Its the adapter got stuck in the computer. Stupide thing. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
Oh man not sure what to think. I picked up an rough case tonight.
I'm not sure I can help this grandma and her grandson. I'm sure I'm not getting the full story. I sure wish I could figure out how to get the email right so I could correspond better with her. We will see maybe I'll figure it out better tomorrow. I find it odd, that supposedly the teacher smelled smoke and he got in trouble for this. Then the other comment was, that in his bookbag was marijuana. Hmmm, something isn't adding up. He doesn't have an disability it seems yet. But has been going through evaluation, just went through some more thanks to the stuff this last week or so. Then another of my cases an young girl has been being left in the office, and was left in a locked room. I am pretty sure this one is a mess for sure. I'm going to be busy from cases. But these two aren't on the calendar yet. Donna :grouphug: |
The new community center sounds very nice! I hope that you and Derrick get a lot of use out of your pool memberships together! :)
Maybe they smelled MJ smoke on the boy? And that's what prompted them to search his bag? IDK, just a thought. And I hope that if that little girl got locked in a room by herself it was accidental. Either way, it must have been scary. Both cases sound like tons of fun to me! |
I'm not sure what to think about the boys case. But I know the girls
case will get fixed. I've gotten so busy I'm not sure what has gone amock with the cases. My case yesterday went really well to me. And the person in charge really worked it through. Warned the parents she had 10 days, to re-write the whole IEP. WHich is a good thing in this case. Its a long one too. I was going to a conference this morning. But for some reason my car. Didn't want to go. It wouldn't defrost, after 20 to 25 minutes. Which is way to long. SO I chose to not go. Told all I had car problems, which in a way I did. I just couldn't figure out what the problem was. It honestly wasn't something that should have taken that long for the windshield to get clear. Then I couldn't warm up in the house. I mean really bad. SO not sure what was up. But I'm better know. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
oh I hate that when I can't get warm.
((((HUGS)))) bizi In Indiana, before my parents got a new boiler for the farm house it was so cold upstairs and I have raynauds disorder, so get cold easily. I would stick my feet in the bath tub and run hot water. It felt so good. The flooring upstairs is ceramic tile and is very cold in the winter. I am careful to put a towel down to walk on. |
I'm sorry that you had problems getting your car to defrost after so long. I'm glad that you didn't go in. Lord only knows what kind of trouble you could have run into if it finally defrosted and you started driving there. Did Dale take a look at it for you?
I HATE it when Corey lowers the heat too much before bedtime. It gets so f'ing cold in here in the morning too often now, and it takes forever to heat the apartment back up! I'm very sensitive to heat AND cold. I guess I just can't be pleased :o I'm glad that you're better now, Donna  |
Its honestly me that likes it cool in the house. So I can't complain.
And the car finally defrosted on its own when it warmed up a little outside. But it had some of the same problems today. And I was getting worried, till I looked at the controlls and figured out that I personally think it was set wrong. So I switched it and hope its going to be better tomorrow. And I think Monday is warmer. Tuesday I go out in the afternoon so no problem at all. Monday Dale will be around if there is a problem. Wednesday I don't go anywhere early so its not a problem. I am not sure what time Thursday but its not out side of the area so its not bad. And I think I'm home on Friday not positive yet. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
I’m glad you realized you had the defrost settings wrong!
And it’s great that it seems like you will have better driving conditions next week. |
Derrick is home, and hopefully we can figure out how to get his adapter.
His computers adapter broke in the weirdest way. Dale got the Piece that was stuck out. I have no idea why Best buy didn't seem to know how to get the stupid thing. Because I had to go to the geek squad person twice, just to figure out to get it on amazon, because the sales person had no clue how to get it or didn't care. Donna :grouphug::hug: |
Yes, she wrote Best buy.
You can try doing a search on Google for his computer's make, model, and year and parts (or then try accessories). Then look for the adapter that way. I'm sure that you know the make and model of the computer, but I don't know where to find the year of a PC tho. I am a Mac person. But maybe someone else can help with that... But you may not even need the year if there are good pictures or a date range for which years the part is compatible with. |
Sorry the stores name is Best Buys. And we have the adapter
name and things. So we can order. The girl that works with geek squad took care of us and got the information wrote down for us. It was a good stop in the end. It just didn't start out that way. Donna :grouphug::hug: |
That's great, Donna. I'm glad that Derrick will be able to continue to use his computer :)
|
Me too, he really enjoys this chromebook more than I've seen any other
computer. He has one more day till the christmas break. That is Friday, then he goes to christmas parties both Friday and Saturday night. Wow, I was hoping to stay home Friday night, but now I have an case conference at 3pm. We will see, what happens. I just might see if I can get my husband to wait in town and have dinner with me. But I have to also find out what the medicaid is wanting that I didn't supposedly send in. Ugh its a mess again. Donna :grouphug: |
I really don't know how you keep up with Derrick and Dan's benefit stuff. It's so stressful
It sounds like Derrick will have a fun and busy weekend! It would be really nice if Dale could meet you for dinner Friday :) |
I don't know how you keep up on top of things!
bizi You are wonderful, know that! :) |
Donna,
You're a bit of a superstar for all you accomplish. M |
