Default BT1 has been down

for over 2 months. It crashed in July. That was only 14 months after he rebuilt the site with new and improved equipment and software to prevent a bad crash again. That was when a major donation push went on to be able to procure the equipment and software. For months prior to the crash, the site was so slow.

BT1 was a wealth of info and had a lot of members. These people were left out of support and with no info, had no place to turn. It seems interesting that emails went out this week to say BT1 was coming back. If that info is in the database, how did the emails get sent?

There's only one person who can answer that question and he's not here, sorry.

I'm a JL loyalist and will be back at his forum in a heart beat when it is up. He ran it on a shoe string and a prayer during his volunteer time long enough to get my family through one of the darkest times of our lives. I refuse to jump on some sort of "JL is evil" band wagon.

I sure hope this thread isnt going to deteriorate into a battle zone again!

My personal and sincere request to everyone, whether you like JL and OBT or not, is to focus on what this place is meant to be, a place to get and offer support and information. It was not set up to be negative to JL and OBT, but to offer a place for us to be able to continue helping and being helped.

If and when OBT comes back up, some will go back and say goodbye here, others will only want to be here, and some will visit between the two. But nomatter the preferences, we all are part of a greater community that should surely be able to transcend all that.

I agree with Chemar. Think about it, why did you really come or come back in the first place?

BTW: John Lester has been 'near us' for years. When my son was in grade 2 I started visiting. Today he is in year 3 of college. Just think of all that time JL's put in (but yes, I know, who said he has to)

When BrainTalk became a non-profit organization, I'm pretty sure that
John had to register the name, BrainTalk, somewhere. In which case,
this forum would have to change its name once BrainTalk returns.

If you anticipate the negative you will end up creating it

I guess a lot of people would feel so much better if this site had come on maybe even as to 2 weeks before Braintalk went down but it didn't.

That is why some are leary about the protestations of caring and interest in them and thier welfare.

It is going to take a long time to gain respect and to have them believe you all.

Will it be? I don't really know.

It is a work in progress that has many pitfalls to overcome,

Particularly when it follows so close to the original product and has all of the same members.

I understand the few who were banned being here as they needed a place to go but my confidence in others to stay is wanilng.

Anyway good luck to you all as I am off to fight my battle once more. I know ilt is a useless trip but the desire to live out stretches my desire to die.

I will be able to read the site but not be able to post so before the hurrahs start let me say this.

Your all good people and don't let your own personal wants and dislikes as well as political and religious philosophies overtake the good of all who come here.

Bye for now and hopefully see you all back here in about 2 to 3 weeks.

Thelma..........I hope your battle proves victorious and I will look forward to your return. (yes, really! )
You are a unique voice and your honesty in expressing yourself is refreshing in a world of phoney gobbledigook.

DocJohn--do you know something we dont? Really, OBT has helped many. It has also changed a lot over the years but one thing was for certain--it crashed and went off line on a regular basis.

Forums are made up of people and this one or any other will be what "we" make it for the most part.
JL has not vanished--he can be seen on-line at his other sites. Why he doesnt communicate is anyones guess--he never was very good at keeping us updated when the thing went down.

For myself --the frequent crashes caused me to back off and enter lurkdom as I found it was making me far to irritated for my own good.
BUT--I still felt--"ah BT will be there to help when i really need it" and last week was one of those times.

I went searching and found it still wasnt back but I found this one and was very happy I did cause the people who are most likely to help me for my current crisis are here!

So--I have nothing agasint JL but understand those that are upset. I am not so sure OBT is coming back at all. I disagree that JL doesnt owe the people something.
I think he owes common courtesy and respect by way of a 3 sentence notification regarding whats up or not.

As alwats this is nothing more than my opinion which isnt worth a hill of beans anyway lol
