LOL, Sandy, I should go post one fast.

Part of the confusion is people thinking they are set up like private myspace's. Where only your friends can reply or see your "page".

We tend to not realize that it says Public Profile.

I just want the members to be safe.

BTW, you can set your options to not allow Visitor Messages. You can also delete them after you read them.

I'm glad you mentioned that we CAN delete them. I didn't realize that. Not that anybody ever posted anything I didn't want the world to see, but it's good to know you can do that. Thanks.

So, it was a mistake to post my credit card #s with the little security code dealies? Should I delete my DNA sample then too?

more info-

Members are are responsible for managing their profile visitor messages.
Deleting after you read is an easy way or after a page is full.

{many pages of messages is very time consuming to delete }

Users can choose to turn off visitor messages if they don't want them:

Default bump

I couldn't sleep. I came back here to figure out the Visitor message system. I did some searches and came up with this old thread. I was away too long. I didn't really understand how it all works.

Does anyone else think it's a really important feature to highlight somewhere in the FAQ? Did I miss something when I returned?

I did read the FAQ, but I either missed it or didn't understand it. New visitors or (like me) returning members might appreciate some guidance

Thanks for all you do.

Edited to add: FAQ contains too much typed information.
It needs to be compressed.

Hi Lara. I was a little slow in starting to use the "new features".

I believe that the visitor function is part of a recent upgrade, and that the FAQs were made before then. Many of us were confused by the "friends" and visitor messages.
I think the visitor messages should be for social interaction.
When someone asks me personal or professional stuff, I PM them back and delete theirs. Also when that last upgrade was done, our PM box was enlarged. I don't know if you noticed that? it is 1000 now. (which is very good for me . )
