Love the photo, Steve!! Tried to add one of mine, put couldn't figure it out. I'll read back over all of the instructions and try again some other time.
What I tried was click reply, then clicked on the little paperclip on the reply window. When that brought up another window, I clicked on browse to upload file from your computer, found the pic I wanted to upload, and told it to upload. It started, then seemed to get stuck part way through. I don't know what I was doing wrong. I've got dial up. Maybe the file was just too big? Oh well, as a nearly 60 granny, I think I'm doing pretty good to do the things I do manage to do.

Lois - most pics are too big - they need to be resized to fit
suggested sizes are on this chart- in the attachments section-

Upload File from your Computer ----------------

Upload File from a URL-----------------

{ sorry these aren't lined up correctly}

Attachment Key
Filetype Max Filesize Max Width Max Height
bmp 19.5 KB 620 280
doc 19.5 KB - -
gif 19.5 KB 620 280
jpe 19.5 KB 620 280
jpeg 19.5 KB 620 280
jpg 97.7 KB - -
pdf 19.5 KB - -
png 19.5 KB 620 280
psd 19.5 KB - -
txt 19.5 KB - -
zip 97.7 KB - -

for the photos on my computer I use Microsoft photo editor, paint or Picasa2 from Google {a free download}.
{right click on a photo for -open with - choices}

but as the other posts mention - to have the photo show as open on the post instead of a link it needs to be on the web somewhere.

Yes..It could be the file size or type..Or the dial up..Sounds to me like it was the dial up..

Steven where did you have your photos - that is easier than photobucket?

mine was on Webshots.com -but it posted it so small.
I didn't see anything about sizing there.

Lightbulb some suggestions...

Lois, when you take pictures straight out of a digital camera, it might be
very large in size (pixels) depending on the resolution you set with the
camera to start. Newer models have choices, others not.

So with a huge size picture, there are size limits for posting on most forums like this.

I found this suggestion at another forum and tried it out and it is easy
and works well:
www.myimager.com

When you finish your resizing or other adjustments you right click on the finished product and save it back to your computer.
This site will make avatars for you and profile pictures for here.
Avatar size is 80px max any one side
Profile is 100px max. The resize feature is in the second tab at the top:
file. If you click manage attachments here below the posting typing box, it will tell you the maximum file sizes you can use. So you need to have your pic within those sizes and in those format types. Most pics are posted well as a .jpg or .gif

The larger picture is a baby hummingbird that sat on my clothesline this summer resting. He was attracted by a red clothespin that is out of the shot.
It is almost at the size maximum allowed here.
The smaller picture I made profile size at www.myimager.com as an
experiment. I just typed in 100px in the long width box and keep the
format button, and bingo there it is..easy!

When you post links from Photobucket, you have to do a little bit of editing in the URL but it's too hard for me to explain what exactly, lol.

When you copy and paste the URL into the little image box here, Photobucket usually adds a little extra something into the URL that has to be deleted in order for it to post properly.

Here's a pretty picture from my recent trip to South Carolina.

A view from the top of the Hunting Island lighthouse.

In order to post that URL I had to delete this portion from the URL for it to work properly: ?action=view&current=

Another view from the lighthouse.

Again, I had to delete this part of the URL: ?action=view&current=

And here is the mansion I want to buy in beautiful historic downtown Beaufort, South Carolina. It's only $2.5 million.

For that URL I had to delete 2 different sections: ?action=view&current= and this: &refPage=120&imgAnch=imgAnch135.

For Photobucket you kinda need to know what you're doing with the code in the URL.

cool pics Doody

I post my pics here from photobucket without having to change anything.
I use the top URL under the pics and copy and paste it straight in the image box and submit and it seems to be fine

If the images are too large, I use the photobucket nifty editor to resize it to website compatible

Really!? I'll check that out then. I take the url straight from the url locator at the top of the page, so I'll try what you said! Thanks. And yes, their nifty editor for loading is very handy.
