must be a windows system glitch .. I was hoping it would just fix itself for you..

You only need the modem stuff for your actual computer if you are using dial up.

you're on DSL right?

So instead of plugging into your modem card {smaller phone size plug} in the computer you are plugging into the Ethernet plug { larger size but like a phone plug connector}

The DSL modem is a separate thing from your computer modem card that is inside of the computer box.
