Hi all. Hope you are all well.
I am presently enjoying my HP Pavillion Slimline, model s5-1010. In the specifications on memory it indicates: 3GB 1333mhz DDR3 Memory Slots - 2 DIMM I have no idea what this even is. lol So here is my question. I have my old computer in another room. I know I added memory to that computer (maybe 2 years or last year, can't remember). Can I take out the memory in that computer and put it in the new computer? Thanks much And I'm not going to do it myself. I have a computer guy not to far from me but he's closed now and I figured I'd ask before I go lugging anything over there. Thanks much Melody P.S. I just watched a video on the HP website and they have a video just on adding memory. They say you have to have the same memory by the same manufacturer and (well I forget what the rest of it was). Is this true?

Yes, it is true. Memory has be a certain kind for each computer.
When my son does our Dell desktop, he looks up our model, and only gets the type they list to use. I am sure Jo will be here soon and elaborate...since I really can't do that...with my computer limitation skills. ![]() It has to do with the contacts/prongs on each type and the receiving module. If you have 3Gig of memory that is pretty good for most purposes. I only have 1 gig on this one, for example, still!

Yep, mrsD is right , has to be the right kind & same speed.
If the old one has the same kind it could work, but also you have to have open slots in the new one. And opening a new computer usually voids the warranty!! 3 gigs should be fine for what you use it for. More would be needed if doing heavy graphics/gaming etc.
