Default I wish I were made of stone instead of silly putty

I wish I weren't so sensitive. I let things get to me and am easily hurt by comments others make.

On another board I frequent there was a discussion on election results and I made a comment about the President elect and was immediately attacked by several with "thank yous" by some others for their posted comments against me!

I had been posting on that group for quite a while now and never expected the group to turn on me like that; after all I posted and pm'd a moderator to tell them I was sorry.

This whole incident is just really making me feel awful.

I wonder; has this happened to anyone else here and what did you do about it to get over it? Maybe I should just get away from the boards for awhile and take a break??

One thing is for sure; I am not posting anything with that group!!

Hi Janie!

Meh, don't let a few stupid people get to you. What do they know, anyway?

We love you!

Smile Hi, Janie!

There will always be people who are soft inside, and react with personal hurt when others deride them. And there will always be people who like to deride other people. You can't stop it from hurting, no matter how many times others tell you to just ignore what they say, or to tell yourself that they were probably just having a bad day themselves. The secret is to get through the pain as fast as you can, and without any scars.

As you can see by my name, I am an idealist. I'm not naive enough to believe that the world will ever be a perfect place, but I do believe it's a noble thing to strive for. And it's the people with soft feelings inside who contribute more to this than anyone else does. I admire you for "being putty inside." It may not always be very easy for you, but it's what the world needs. All the time people tell me that I'm too much of a pushover, and I take too long to get mad. I don't care if that's what they think. I don't HATE anyone on this planet, and I hope I never do. You just go on being you, and if a group of people get their rocks off by chasing 'easy prey' then just move on to another group! Sending you lots of support and respect. Good luck and best wishes to you, Janie!

Hey AZjanie !

Im exactly the same... I feel exactly like you described. And something very similar happened to me in like 4 boards... People can say everything, but when I say something, they have to attack me, critizise me and even say im rude, etc... when they are the rude ones insulting every post I make !!! Bad people... They can really make me feel sad and andry... uff...
Better to keep out of those boards... bad for health.

I happened upon your message, and I've spent most of my life feeling alone and actually being alone. (have to say, I married my true soul mate in 1992 and he is a saint --or a pod from another planet)... Anyway I was having one of my rehab sessions and after saying something innocent, the physical therapist said, "Stop being so sensitive!" Well, I proved him right because I started to cry! Yikes. I've often thought it would be so much easier to have a hard heart instead of empathy and concern for others. I've been told the 'too sensitive' line a thousand times - and I frankly don't understand it. Why is caring a crime ??? I'm venting and I've never 'met' you I just read your msg and felt compelled to write.

...oh, now, now

They shouldn't have gained up on you like that. Don't take it to heart. I'm a puddle of tears at times. It's messy business. Causes wrinkle too.

Sometimes we get too comfortable and have to pull back. We all learn from each other.

Politics is a touchy subject these days, on an international level...

And the internet is international also. So don't put anything on the internet you don't want to the whole world to see, and expect the world to respond if sparked.

A person should be allowed to exercise their right to freedom of speech. But if you post it, everyone that reads it has that right too.

Don't let one bad post get the best of you. I'm sure you gave and gained a lot from the forum. It's whatever you're comfortable doing.

You can lurk around here. There's lots of friendly people here.

You're welcome here
