Sue, You've mentioned that you've had the VEEG where the 'electrodes' (sorry, my word. Is it the correct one?) are appied directly to your brain.
May I ask how that's done? Do you know of a site where that's explained? Recently PBS had a film about epilepsy surgery and that sort VEEG was used but so little was told about it. I'd sure like to know more. Many thanks and God bless. ![]() |

Hi Jingle,
When I had my veeg my neurosurgeon drilled 7 holes in my head 4 on the right side and 3 on the left side. Then they put the depth electrodes directly on my brain where they thought the sz. were coming from. After the surgery was done they had me on video around the clock except when I was in the restroom. One thing they did that was helpful to me is they installed a 25 ft. cable so I could get up and walk around my room instead of just laying in bed all the time. This surgery was more risky than the ultrasound surgery I had done a yr. later but my surgeon was able to get more detail on the area of the brain that was triggering sz. If I find any websites I will post them. You might want to type depth electrode veeg and see what you find. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You! Sue |

Thank you, Sue, thank you for the information.
My VEEG was the standard sort with all the electrodes outside - on my hair - lol. But I had only a 15' cable and I was NOT allowed to leave the bed. I could not even swing my legs over the edge of the bed !! When I needed to go to the bathroom I had to push the button for help and wait (and wait and wait) for someone to come and "assist" me to the bathroom. The bathroom had no camera but did have a microphone ![]() I'm not complaining -- my hospital is part of a major medical university and has an enormous waiting list of people who want their VEEg and surgery there. |
