Default Permanent nerve damage

Does anyone know how long a nerve has to be pinched for it to become damaged? It's been almost a year. I see an occupational therapist on Wednesday and I am trying to get an EMG done as soon as possible. But my mind is racing snd I was hoping for some insight.

I do not have constant symptoms, only in certain positions.

TIA
-Sara
