Does anyone know how long a nerve has to be pinched for it to become damaged? It's been almost a year. I see an occupational therapist on Wednesday and I am trying to get an EMG done as soon as possible. But my mind is racing snd I was hoping for some insight.
I do not have constant symptoms, only in certain positions. TIA -Sara |

Hi Sara,
The lack of constant symptoms is encouraging. You can look up the grades of nerve injury by simply googling "types of nerve damage or injury". This may give you an idea on healing time for intermittent compression. Washington University in St. Louis maintains excellent info on peripheral nerve injuries. Are they doing a nerve conduction study as well or just EMG. Might be helpful to have both. Sometimes they start with NCS and progress to EMG if indicated. No needles for NCS... Thank you so much Littlepaw! I have an EMG scheduled for May 7 but trying to have one sooner. I believe I should have both a nerve conduction study with the EMG. I just made an appt with my GP to request she set up an MRI. I am not sure which is better, compressed nerve in my arm or bulging disc. Hopefully not TOS.
I just truly need support from people who are affected. Family is great but I need an outlet. I really appreciate your response. Sara |
