25 yr old female here with a history of anxiety and heartburn (both are managed without medication). Recently (in the last two weeks) I've started having a random episodes of feeling cross-eyed but NOT actually seeing double in my vision. The moments that the episodes occur are not the same. A few times at work, a few times at home during different scenarios. Being very aware of my body and anxiety, I immediately pay attention to any additional symptoms and find nothing more than my right eye and cheek feeling odd (I assume this is anxiety at work?).The episode is very brief (I'd say no more than a min) and occur infrequently. It had been days since the last occurance and this evening has me needing advice. I'm afraid it's a stroke or something horrible like that building up...Does anyone have any ideas of what this may be? I have no vision issues, no family history of anything other than anxiety, under and over active thyroid, and gi problems.

Hi Alexnjunk
Welcome to NeuroTalk ![]() I hope that you find the community as knowledgeable and supportive as I have. I have never experienced vision issues like yours but it might be an idea if you got your GP to refer you to a specialist ophthalmologist. A specialist will be able to check out your right eye and (depending) discuss options with you. All the best.

Hi there,
I agree with kiwi that you need to speak to your GP and get a referral for a thorough examination. I have Anxiety issues which have affected the feeling and operation of my eyesight. I also have double vision, but that cause is so rare it is not worth mentioning. I know you said you take nothing for your Anxiety, but are you on any meds at all? Some have side effects that cause vision issues. Dave.

No medications except the rare Tylenol when I get a headache. And I don't know if it helps, but I feel no pain when this occurs. I immediately start looking for other symptoms but genuinely find nothing more happening than what I've described. I feel fine leading up to it and feel like it never happened at all when it goes away.
