Hi Everyone,
My name is Archie *edit* and I reside in st. Louis, Mo. I'm 55 years old and I am disabled. Which brings me to my reasons for posting here; I'm sick & tired of not working and want very badly to return to position of supporting myself and being a better contributor to family needs! So, in all what I'm asking is there anyone out there in the St. Louis area who can help me find work. Last edited by Jomar; 06-15-2010 at 11:29 AM. Reason: privacy |

Welcome to NeuroTalk Archie!
![]() Wow, you and me both! My job ended in June and I've been applying for jobs constantly since. I'm also disabled but it's off the record. I have MS and many things play against me but I want to find a job so badly. I'm getting some training through our local unemployment office. Have you looked into any similar programs in your area? Anyway, good luck in your job search, I hope you'll find one soon! ![]()

Hi, Just wondering if either or both of you found a new job? Week before last since I did not work 85% of my shifts I got a written warning and if I miss 3 times or not hit 85% in the next 6 months will get a final written and will be terminated the next time i miss. If I call in 12 hours before my shift that I am not going to make it (that would be 6pm) to work at 6am then it will not count against the 3 occurances but still have to hit 85%. But how am I suppose to know at 6pm if my leg is going to cramp up when I get up in the morning, guess will have to figure that one out. Not sure with my leg jerking around if anyone would be willing to hire me. My PCP was very supportive when I told her that "we need to figure something out I'm about to lose my job!"... her response was. "if that happens call me immediately and I will fax in disability paperwork to get you on social security" I told her I'm only 55 and I want my life back!!

Mamagoo,
Do you have any written Drs notes on file with employer? Some of it depends on how large the employer is but most larger companies will work with you if there is a diagnosis and records /notes from dr on file with HR dept. But if it is crucial job that you do and not easily covered by others, then a job/duties change in the company can be requested. My employer tried quite a few changes for me, but they didn't really ask my input on what I thought would be the best to keep me from more work injuries {RSIs} , they stayed in the hand use intensive jobs category - so just didn't work out. But they did try. I was probably too injured by then anyway.
