Did anyone else hear this? I hear the Feds are going to be changing the way they deal with violaters with pot that have legitimate medical needs. I hear they are not going to press charges for those with valid needs, and are not carrying large quantities.

How is this supposed to work? I have many questions. I was given some "herbal" brownies, and have been terrified to try um. I worked in law enforcement too long, and the DH and I are considering just getting rid of them. Can you imagine the knock on the door? "hands up, show me your brownies!" I think I am a wee bit paranoid.

our governer denied the medical mj law in our state, because he said it breaks federal laws, and he wont ask anyone living in his state to have local laws that break federal laws. (yeah, a cop out) anyway, I wonder if this would change many governers minds?

I just saw a report on the news about this...this relaxation will only apply to states that have a medical marijuana law. Which only applies to 14 states. And only if the laws in those states are followed stringently.

I'm with you, Dej. I would be too afraid to smoke or eat marijuana right now. I have a feeling that the laws will be turning in our favor, but I think it's too soon to try it.

However, I have no earthly idea how to go about buying marijuana or finding someone who would give it to me...so, it's a moot point for me right now.

I saw it on my local news last night at 11 and today at noon. I was not sure if anyone else had better info than a blurb on a local channel.

The US attorney's office has been instructed to leave people alone when they live in a state with a medical marijuana law and follow the state law as written.

I say it's about time! Stop wasting my tax dollars on prosecuting people who seek relief for a medical condition. Spend them on helping people, on prosecuting child pornographers, on tax cheats, on prosecuting bankers and hedge fund operators who stole from the US taxpayers! Spend them on bringing down cocaine dealers and people who deal in oxycontin and heroin!

Yeah, the Feds are saying that they will not punish those individuals who have a medical need FROM THE STATES WHERE MEDICAL POT IS LEGAL. So even if you are from a state where medical pot is legal, you better have the card from your state that says you have a medical need to carry pot. Here in Michigan it cost $100 to apply for the card and your doc has to sign the app. My GP said to talk to my MS doc who knows my MS better and the MS doc doesn't want to get involved in helping someone get what was considered "illegal". So I guess that leaves it up to my.......dentist?? Ha Ha

Well, if it's true, it'll be the first thing this administration has done that I agree with. No idea if my state (Nebraska) has a medical pot law or not, but if I someday need to smoke/consume MJ in some way, it'd be nice to be able to do so without worrying that I'd be arrested for doing so.

I am trying to figure out how to get a medical prescription and drive to CA, buy some nice clean pot, bake some brownies and give it a try.

I am not afraid of MJ, guess it is because I used to get high when I was in my 20's. Baked brownies with it, made spaghetti sauce with it once too.

I stopped because it was illegal and I did not want to break that law anymore.

But with my restless legs and constant pain, MJ? you bet!

If I am caught with under a pound, AZ does not prosecute. I am ready to drive my car across the border, the AZ/CA border that is!

AZ has a medical MJ law already on the books. no need to travel. You should be able to get your needs met in your own state.
