I got the oral thrush from macrobid.
I'm allergic to cipro and all the sulfas...gads, if I get a hint of a UTI, the Doc gives me something-cillin..

F2U, That was a close call. Such a high fever and being out-of-it. Glad you got to the ER. So happy you are on the mend. Feel better soon Friend.
When I take any Anti-B's I also take a Pro-Biotic pill daily. It has the good bacteria in it, that is the same as yogurt only a billion times more good bacteria and more potent. Anti-B's destroy all bacteria in the body and gut. This puts back the good bacteria we need to survive. It fights the bad bacteria, by keeping it in check. Take for two weeks even after stopping Anti-B's. I can't take Cipro or Levaquin (Levofluxacin). The Fluoroquinolones exacerbate my MS. They have a FDA warning of increased risk of Tendinitis and Tendon Rupture, like the Achilles Tendon. So be careful with these. Then I am allergic to Sulfa too. Not much I can take. Cranberry pills, water, and using the test strips to check for UTI's are important preventatives. Pro-Biotic or Acidophilus pills (less good bacteria) are both good and yogurt without sugar. Sugar nullifies the benefit of yogurt. Even the ones with fruit (fructose) in them. The sugar in the fruit kills some good bacteria or often feeds the bad bacteria. Plain yogurt or pills is best.

Where do you get cranberry pills. I drink Cranberry juice. My doctor told me to put about 1 cup in my big 20 oz mug I have water in all day long.

What is ASO? My mom said she gets a urine sample in a clear jar to look at it. She said you can see white things floating in it if there is an infection....so I don't really know about that other than what she said. Sally thank you so much for sharing your advice. I truly appreciate it!

The juicing sound very healthy...that would work out great for you to add in the cranberry pills! I am feeling much better today...still achy but my muscles are sore for all the chills. Thank you so much for your response! I hope things go well for you too!

I am so sorry you are going through this. I don't understand why they were so hard on you because you had a UTI. Why do you think that was? It's interesting about the being thirsty....because I have been drinking so much and yet I am still thirsty that has been going on for weeks. I will have to remember that this can be a sign. I am trying to learn to be more aware of what my body is trying to tell me. Thank you for your well wishes. I'm sure I am on the mend. I sure hope you don't have to go through this again any time soon, or ever for that matter.

Thanks again for you help! It's great, though, how so many other people get so much from all the input. So I'm happy the issue was brought up, because it seems to be somewhat common. And I didn't really know that.

If I should start to get that....what do you do to get rid of it early? I am glad you brought this to my attention...because other wise I would not have known. Thank you.
