I told my wife that Chris would be going home after the Tuesday night show...America is still mostly motivated by appearance, not actual talent, and it's obvious that large groups of voters are working as "advocates" for contestants with whom they identify - which is all wrong, in my opinion (an opinion openly shared by Simon Cowell, who seems to be utterly disgusted by what is happening).
I've become a big Jordin Sparks fan...her performance last week ("I Who Have Nothing") was shockingly good. Not only does she have a big and versatile voice, but she is able to plug herself into the songs she sings. I think she's going to be a HUGE star - bigger than anyone they've had on AI. Melinda was fabulous again...and we've come to expect that of her. She can sing just about anything, and her pitch and timing are perfect. She's already a professional singer, albeit in a supporting role, and her polished skills are very evident. But America has really disgraced itself, with respect to this year's AI voting, so who knows what will happen? |
My mother totally agrees that Ameridca is not ready for Chris' hairstle. I am so sorry that I missed Sanjays mohawk. But Ryan gave us just a little taste of it last night!
I am so glad that Rocky is finally off the show. But he really isn't totally off. HE IS THE FIRST MEMBER OF THE JURY!!!!! I can't believe that they will have to keep him around and we will have to listen to his mouth again. But this also means that now with the jury forming, the show will really get interesting. I really liked whenYau-man made the fake immunity idol. Let's just wait and see if his team mates will be able to tell it's fake. Does anyone know anything about the place the team mambers who are voted off go to? Well I will have to wait now until Sunday night to watch another reality show (: |
thanks for the recap doydie. my daughter wa sin a talant show tonight. lol..a live reality show. she came in second.
thanks for the recap. :) rex..i'm just as disgusted. to bad that ai does do like abc...allow only a certain number of votes per phone line. oh...speaking of abc..did any of you see the upset about ai going over it's time..and ticking off the dancing with the stars producers? i caught just snippet on a news show. |
I didn't see the piece about AI going over but on the AI message board, the Sanjaya fans are saying that it is a conspiracy to keep them for voting a full two hours!!! As if! I wish they would limit the voting to five votes per household. That would allow hopefullly every member have thier say.

Three hours of Reality shows in one night!!!!!!!! A reality show addicts dream evening.
Amazing race. Oh, what a bummer. I felt so sorry for the life partners trying to get on that plane and knowing what it would do to them if they couldn't. They truly love each other and of alll the couples except for Joyce and her husband of which I can't pronounce his name, they are my favorites. The others just get on my nerves to much. I couldn't care less if Eriq and Danieele got on. I was so touched by the emotion everyone had at the concentration camp. It didn't matter that they were all on huge time restraints, everyone knows someone that could have been there or affected in some way. They all gave it the respect it deserved. I guess the funniest moments, well one of them, was when one of the beauty queens threw up her sausage and the opposing team said 'and now presenting Miss California". That was so funny. And the other had to be Charla in her huge knight suit trying to lead that horse which was twice as big as her. She was scared to death of it. I guess on of the sweetest moments was when the two teams stepped onto the pit stop at the same time. I mean it was intentional. They had gone through everything together and wanted to be there together. And then the two guys gave Joyce and her husband the trip. OK, enough of Amzing Race. Now for Apprentive. I was glad to see a challenge that had to do with the corparate world. Tims mouth definitely got him in trouble, and then got him fired. I guess next weeks show is going to be quite volitile. I was nice to have a reward for the three winners to have their family members with them for the night. |

Can't this show just go away? |
I totally agree about the Apprentice. The challenges are just so lame. This last one actually had to do with some corporate work. I wish he had the two older assistants with him. I can only think of the man's name, George. They were gentle yet firm. Donald Trump needed that influence to calm some of his ego down. Now he has his 'wonderful' daughter to just feed his ego. I think he will agree that Los Angeles was not the best place to have The Apprentice. And the whole tent thing is a whole new thing that I would prefer not to go into tonight, or any other time!!!
|
I thought Melinda was incredible tonight (as usual)...I also liked Jordin (of course) and Gina. Lakeisha...eh. I don't care for her especially, although I do understand that others enjoy her.
The guys all suck, IMO. Of all the performers, I think Melinda and Jordin have recording careers in their near futures. I don't think the rest have anything special going for them. Sanjaya should GO already...gee, he's weak. Hailey has a career in her future, but IMO it's not singing. Acting would suit her better, as she's basically eye candy. The judges are really trashing her! Either she or Sanjaya should go tomorrow, I think, so who knows what's gonna happen? It wouldn't surprise me if both stay and maybe Phil goes - his chemotherapy look is creeping me out. :) I do think he sang nicely tonight, although he should have listened to Tony Bennett and picked-up the pace. But, again, he's got a creepy look going and I really think he may be gone... ...but who knows. :) |
I thought Lakisha acted like she is getting a little to sure of herself tonight. I didn't like the song, her dress or her attitude. And did I see a tatoo on her right breast when the dress started falling off her chest? Melinda was my favorite again. She didn't look as awestruck after she sang, like maybe she is actually believing that she is a star.
Unfortunalty according to a website that predicts how the voting has gone, Sanjaya is safe a gain. This website only predicts from the phone in votes and cannot count the text message votes. Melinda is on top and Gina is #9. I wonder how often the performers themselves choose thier own wardrobes and how mush influenve the show's production staff have. Haley needs to realize that she needs to let her singing be what shows and not get the male vote from her body shots. |
Your website is pretty accurate, I'm sad to say. Gina gone? That's not right.
Idol is in a bad state right now...the Sanjaya groupies - and people who delight in ruining things for others - are skewing the voting process, and good singers are getting screwed as a result. This will continue until there are about five contestants left...Sanjaya won't pick up any new votes, but the others will as voters' choices narrow, and he'll eventually come in last. But forgetting Sanjaya for a moment...Gina goes and Hailey stays? American voters are idiots. |
Unfortunately the AI producers have put into motion all this foolishness that is happening right now. If they would have put a cap on voting this never woud have happened. And like I posted on the AI website, nobody has put a gun in front of anybody to make them vote for Sanjaya. So between the voting American public and the producers allowing it, for now we are stuck with the problem. But they can't fix it untill next year becasue everyone voted off by the old system could sue.
Wow, Survivor was awesome tonight. Earl can dance!!!!! And I loved the combination of Michelle and Stacy dancing. Poor Eduardo (sp?) in that immunity challenge. He was so sure of his archery abilities. You could tell the minute he put that bow in his hands what the outcome was going to be. But Yau-man rocked my boat tonight! He is the man. I was glad that Lisi is finally off. I hate to see what it is like back at their resort with her and Rocky. Next week seems very interesting. A new twist. We'll have to see. |
i'm guilty. nobody here voted this week. but next...yep..i told my daughter..you sit for 2 hours and dial dial.
i agree doydie..the calling system needs to change. i just hope there is a next year. :o |
Quote:
Again, the fault lies in allowing people like Sanjaya into the show with the intention of broadening the demographic to include 9-14 year olds...and also to create a buzz. That was a big mistake. NO WAY was Sanjaya better than everyone else who wasn't chosen...we'e talking probably 100,000 or more who expressed an interest. Sanjaya was in the Top 24 nationwide? I don't think so. It was a dumb move by the producers, and it backfired. AI - no more novelty acts, please. |
Wow, first place last week then eliminated tonight. Felt Sorry for Joyce and hubby, they really made a bad plane connection. But they won thier season so this will give someone else a chance at the million. I don't know why i can never remenber Joyce's husbands name. OK, enough for Amazing Race.
On to Apprentice. I think the Donald really likes James. He really asked his opinion a lot in the boardroom tonight. Lesson to anyone writing a brochure to sell anything, make sure you get the correct phone number. That was a HUGE mistake Kristwen did on that. And I thought she was a pretty sharp player. I don't know if the Donald was just tired of the season or what but all four of the last final players will compete for the job of the century. |
Well all in all I thought Latino week bombed out. I realy didn't see anyone that stood out. Well, maybe Haleys legs and Lakishas boobs from the front and back. But I'm not to sure of the music. It is the first time that it isn't a total 'let's bash Sanjay' party on the American Idol web site message board. One of the threads says that his music teacher says that he is actually a great singer but is shy. So maybe he is just taking a long time to get out of his shell. He knew how to work the cameras tonight though.
On the prediction site, Blake is on top. I think this is the first time that Melinda isn't on top. I may have to change my vote from Melinda to Jordin. But I would hate to see a 17 year old girl have such a sudden change in her life that puts her in the spot light and she makes changes in her appearance and lifestyle like Kelly Clarkson did. We will see tomorrow night!!!! I think it will be goodby Lakisha |
Quote:
I liked Blake, for a change...Chris creeped me out, as always, as did Phil. Sanjya wasn't bad, really, except fot his uber-creepy mooning at the camera - yuck! Melinda is fabulous - in a class all by herself, IMO. What a smooth voice; perfect pitch and tempo, lots of pure joy. She's a great singer - too good for American Idol, I think, especially its current iteration. All this emphasis on being "current" this season has me perplexed, as does the choice of singing coaches (other than Tony Bennett). Is it my imagination, or are they choosing singing mentors who can't sing? Dianna Ross is WAY over the hill - can't sing a lick anymore - and Lulu? Jennifer Lopez is a nice girl and she's cute, but she's no singer, any more than Paula Abdul was/is. Ditto Gwen Stefani. Jordin picked a bad song...she's a singer and she should sing. Again, I think she's being influenced by the fear of being criticized for not being "contemporary". I still think she's great. Lakeisha is a one-trick pony, IMO. I don't really care who has tattoos or whose dress is too tight, etc., but I do care about the singing, and I don't see Lakeisha breaking out of her one style. Hailey - has got to go. Nothing in the tank there. Can Hailey and Sanjaya both go at one time - like tonight???? :) rex |
Well i was pleased with the results on AI tonight. Can't say much more, am sitting here dressed in jeans and shirt, sweatshirt and heavy housecoat and freezing. My Mom had some some of bug over the weekend and i spent a lot of time with her. I think the bug followed me home. Roger out (:
|

warm hugs to you sweety. i hope you don't get a bad case. yeppers..i agree ...no surprises on ai. |
Say it isn't so(: Michelle got voted off. She was just one of the sweetest players, cute, good head on her shoulders. I was just really sorry to see that happen. What a new twist!!!! What will they do next week. Another tribal council for only haf the team? I wonder how long it will take them to see what a threat Yau Man is.
Oh, feeling much better today. I think it was my Avonex. I am supposed to take it on Monday nights. That's when I take my two Aleve. But I forgot. I finally remembered Wednesday afternoon and took it then. It was about four hours later that all these sx started happening. I have never heard of a 12 hour flu. It had to be the Avonex. Hopefully I have learned my lesson but I doubt it. |
Well two of the reailty shows are almost over(: The nonelimination races always throw me for a loop. I am all ready for the last team to be eliminated but then what's his name (cause I have MS and can't remember his name) says they are safe. But it's tough getting in first place the next time. Of course last week Joyce and her husband were first in leaving and last getting into the pit stop. So it can happen. It sure was neat watching Chira and Mirna going up those 11 floors of bamboo walls. That little woman has a lot of spunk. Of course with all the editing we really don't know how long it took her to get up. It seems like a lot of the challenges are a little lame this time. The fast forword was sitting in the back seat of a stunt car with the stunt driver doing all the work! I remember when Joyce had to cut all her hair off to complete her fast forward in their regular season.
I was sure the Donald was going to fire one of the teams tonight and then have the twio remaining ones plan, organize and implement some event like he has in all the other seasons. But they will all go under his little microscope next week. I think the Renuzit people liked Frank and Nicoles commercial better but thought James and Stephanie actually worked better. Of course like the commercials showed, there was a lot of film that was cut on the editing floor. So we really didn't hear what they really thought of the two teams. Next week will be interesting for both shows. |

As a one-time, long-time Apprentice fan, I've officially lost interest in the show. These contestants are weak, weak...and the format has just become too awkward and ham-handed to bear. And I cannot stand Trump's kids! I hope this is it for The Apprentice - its time has come and gone. |
Although I have never voted for Sanjaya, I have often defended his right to be there. But tonight I think he did himself in. This is the final 7! You have to step up to the plate and put on your best performance like Phil did. And he didn't. I also didn't like Chris's or Blake's. But according to the prediction site, Phil and Cris are on top, Blake is still in there. Sanjaya was on bottom for a while and now Lakisha is there.
I fell sorry for Lakisha. She has a great voice but I don't think American Idol is the place for her to start her journey. I think she will have succuss in the music industry somewhere. And I think I have officially switched my allegiance from Melinda to Jordin. But I would hate for fame and fortune to ruin Jordin. We shall see tomorrow night! |
Quote:
Melinda - fabulous voice and versatility...she was unfazed by the country theme, and actually performed a pure country piece (as opposed to an easier, crossover ballad) with style and power. Jordin - great voice, performed her song with the same depth, honesty and power we saw when she did "I Who Have Nothing" a couple of weeks back. Phil - surprised us all...he was great, and seems to have found his genre. Lakeisha - fell short, IMO...her voice isn't up to the competition (Melinda and Jordin) and she lacks versatility. Blake - creeped me out. I thought he was channeling Boy George last night, which is a bad thing for a guy trying to sing country music. Not his thing; but then, what is? If I want quirky, I'll listen to Beck (who's got a little genius in him). Blake ain't Beck. Chris - yuck. He has no music in his voice, which is girly (no offense to the girls) and weak. I almost threw the remote at the screen when he tried to sneak in that VA Tech condolence line after Simon had ripped him. Ryan Seacrest addressed that at the beginning of the show, and Chris was trying to win favor - and votes - by making his *own* comment. Phoney. Sanjaya - no comment necessary. And he'll be back next week. :( |
wellllll...for the sake of trying to oust sanjaya, my daughter voted and voted for chris and phil last night. hope it helped.
i really hope the show gets back on track. |
Ryan said that there was something like 38 million votes cast. From the web site that does a prediction from phone votes only, Sanjaya was in last place. But there have been other weeks that he has been way down at the bottom on that site yet Ryan says he is not in the bottom three. So it has been the text messaging that has kept him in. But last night he was WAY down in the bottom. With 38 million votes cast, I would say that a lot of people have tried the same strategy that Sanjayas fans have done for the past weeks. They phoned and texted till their little fingers cramped. Hopefully now the rest of the contestants can really focus on the rest of the show and not how Sanjaya stays in. I don't know how Chris was in the top three. To me the bottom four, not that four count, was Sanjaya, Lakisha, Chris and Blake.
|
i think chris go in the top 3 cuz everyone wanted to be sure sanjaya got voted off. voting for the next weakest seemed like the thing to do.
now..let the show begin. :D i will say for a 17 yr old...he did good with his last song. that really has to hard. |
I have to admit that I am not a reality show lover, but I do watch them occasionally. I watch American Idol every tuesday, mostly because "House" follows.:p
I find that I am enjoying the show though and kinda getting into it. I'm loving Melinda Dolitles style and voice. She is almost to good for an amature show like this. I also like the young guy, cant remembe his name, but he has heart. I will try to stay up with it so I can talk with you experts, but my vote is for Melinda and the Guy? I mentioned....for now.:) Hope you feel better Doydie...Strep throat is going around. My kids and grands have had it. I sure hope I'm spared....nasty stuff and I still have my tonsils. See Ya Soon, |
Oprah had Simon Cowell and the remaining 6 on her show today. She talked to Lakisha about her long embrace with Sanjaya when Ryan told him it was him to go this week. She gave a lot of insight as to the hug. He told her he didn't know if he could go on and sing his song again. She just held him and told him that he had the strength and to give it his best shot. And he did. I didn't finish the end of his song because I was also watching Crossing Jordan. But apparently he gave his own little twist to the end by saying 'something to talk about - my hair' or something like that. So he did go out with class and with him in control with how he left.
Wow, Eduardo was sure shocked. And to think Alex gave up their immunity idol, with a smug on his face I might add. But I liked it that Jeff said that it would be rehidden and new clues put out. I hope they all have learned their lesson and keep the II to themselves. I liked the immunity challenge. Well I really liked both chalenges. They are more like the challenges from all the other seasons. It's like Survivor again. Yipee!!!!!!!!! |
I also agree that the Apprentice isn't as good. I miss Caroline and George, the other guy... also can't stand his kids as part of it. Thought them being outside in tents was too degrading and demeaning... not fun to watch.
I'm glad considering how The Donald mocked Rosie and told her how much her show had sucked, what poor ratings it had had, and the other nasty things he said. He talked about The Apprentice being the best show on tv, all arrogant as he lambasted Rosie. Well maybe karma's coming back to haunt him. Yep, this Apprentice was boring and not interesting at all to me. |
Well one of my reality shows is over. But it was my least favorite this year. Stephanie was hired as The Apprentice. I hope she is ready for her life to be totally controlled now by the Donald. I thought tonights episode seemed scripted. Comments like Surya telling Trump that he heard a young singer named Sanjaya needed a job. Plus I didn't like the whole Hollywood Bowl thing. I think it actually was raining by the end. I hope next year it's back in NY.
I was surprised that tonight was another non-elimination leg on Amazing Race. I'm sure all the teams are glad but it sure is dragging it on and on. I couldn't believe that the all guy team actually asked themselves if it would be OK for them to prostitute themselves out to get some money. But I guess in a way they did. They sold their souls down the river and to the Devil when they let the blondes give them cash for them to Yeild Eric and Daniele again. And then they themselves got in last place. One thing that has been consistent is that those blonds keep on coming in first. I wouldn't be suprised to see them win but I don't want them to win. I don't think there are any teams left I want to see win. |
I agree with everyone's comments about The Apprentice this year. It seemed almost "scripted" and predictable. Tonight's finale was the topper -- Hollywood Bowl no less. But I do wish Stephanie well, to me she seemed the best of the bunch???
So long Sanjaya!!! Bring it on Jordin!! I've always enjoyed Melinda, but in a way it doesn't seem quite fair with her being a professional even though in the background. She's had the experience and stage presence that the other's have lacked. The guys just don't cut it, for me anyway, this time around. Lakisha has a powerful voice, but seems stuck in her one genre. The Amazing Race -- I for one hope the blondes win!! There's never been an "all girl" team winner as far as I know and they've had to do all the same stuff the others did. They haven't been afraid to ask directions either like some "other" teams -- that guy thing! Danny and Oswald went down a notch or two in my opinion tonight. Charla and Myrna just appear mean and vindictive. Now I can't remember the name of the guy in the pair that's left, just Danielle. I don't remember them from a previous race and don't know why they're so disliked. But why did they have two non-elimination segments in a row -- boring! Has anyone watched Sheer Genius now that Top Disign is finished? It seems a little strange to me. Maybe the hairstyle/color thing just doesn't translate to TV very well. Whew! I've never watched so much TV in my life, but it is a God-send these days now that the ms has progressed so much. Take care all! |
Eric and Danielle were not a pair in their regular seaon. I'm not sure who she was on with but he was on with his best 'bud'. Since the season, they started dating.
|
not a true reality show...but we watched The Wedding Crashers tonight. it was pretty funny. parts over acted...but the surprise facter was cool. :p not that MY folks would have thought so. my kids..yep..they would have loved it.
|
Hi Curious,
I actually found Wedding Crashers disturbing. I felt that they made comedic a male sexual assault and that, given that his character was meant to be freaked about her advances (at least initially), I thought that for them to make it funny and made light of was very inappropriate. If the rorles were reversed and Vince Vaughn had been female and being "forced" upon like he was, it would have been outrageous. I just don't see why it shouldn't have been just as shocking and not funny because he was a man. It was almost like they were trying to imply that if a woman forces herself on a man, it's just fun and games. I just disagreed with that and it colored my whole view of the movie (that and I just thought they were both shallow and exploitative of women). I didn't like it at all and I almost walked out. Did anyone love the play on Survivor, where they got Edgardo? hehe loved it! I thought the Apprentice finale was just too boring. I wish Stefani well too though. The final picks just seem so random, not really based on anything solid from their past performances, just The Donald's whimsy really. I just didn't feel that they were really evaluated at the end by the Trump. His kids did a decent job of setting out their good qualities and bad qualities, but Donald's decision just seem to be arbitrary. I actually can't wait for Big Brother. Who knows why it interests me but I do think it's fun. One of the few shows that kids and immature parents can watch together! :) I do enjoy Melinda on Idol. I agree, I think the women are outshining the men in talent. I kinda hope for Myrna and Charla to win the Amazing Race. I don't know why. Maybe having a disability, I just can empathize with them and I really appreciate how her shortness is really compensated for by her partner. I like how helpful she is. It must be grueling for them both, one by the physical challenges caused by being small and the other, for compensating and often doing far more than her share. I really wish them luck. I agree though, they can be a bit too ruthless at times. You know, I don't admit to many people, but I must say that I do enjoy a lot of these reality shows. :) Ok, I'm a junkie. There, I admitted it. :) |
oh wannabe...this was NOT the movie. but a new tv show on NBC. couples who are actually getting married...set themselves up. for their own weddings to be crashed.
they did things like have the grooms best friend take the wedding dress to get it ironed. the "crasher" pulled it out so it was hanging out the car door. the bottom got trashed. they took it to an alterations shop..also with a "crasher" who wacked off the bottom of the dress. thos ekind of things..topple over the wedding cake. the minister gets a phone call during the ceromony. at the end of the reception...they let everyone in on the crashing. i have never seen the movie wedding crashers. doesn't sound too good. |
Hi Curious,
Yes I realized I'd put my foot in my mouth when I saw a clip from the show last night after I wrote my post. hehe It did look like a funny show actually. I just didn't know it existed until after I made my post! Glad you enjoyed it! |
lol...whew wannabe....glad we cleared that up. 99% of all tv watching here is done as a family. we still stick with only about an hour a day.
tonight...amercian idol. :D i'm really looking forward to tonight an tomoorw nights shows. |
Yeah, that was a classic moment on Survivor when Eduardo got the boot. Alex, with his smug look on his face, walked right up there and handed the Immunity Idol to Jeff. Then his name was never written. That will improve Stacys reputation at the camp since it was her idea to all vote for him. From the commercials, I think Alex is injured this week.
I didn't watch Wedding crashers. I was watching tv when we got a call from my mother in laws nursing home that she had fallen and broken her hip so we had to go to the hospital. My husband was in the middle of IRobot. I think I have watched a couple of seasons of Big Brother but didn't like it. But, I can't believe I'm saying this, I didn't like survivor at first. Now that Apprentice is over, Amazing Race and Survivor will be over soon, I will have to find a new one, or two, to watch. Oh, my mother in law doesn't own the nursing home, it's where she lives. She has COPD very bad but smoked about 3-4 packs if cigs a day up until last year. Has diabetes, several small stokes and a small heart attack. Oh, renal failure on top of that. So it will be a miracle if she survives this. We are waiting for her potassium to go down to a normal level before they can operate. |
So sorry to hear that Doydie. I hope she recovers... sounds like her body has gone thru alot. I will send positive thoughts to her.
I never watched Big Brother for the first few seasons myself. But I must admit that I actually enjoy it now. I want Cowboy or however you spell his name to win. He just seems so sincere, not a particularly good game player physically or mentally, but still sincere. He's managed to keep the fact that he has the Idol between himself and that other guy, and that says something. I dunno. I always seem to like the underdogs. :) Anyone else watch the PussyCat Dolls search for a new member? I can't believe I'm enjoying it... but I am. I didn't even know who they were until I started watching it... now if that doesn't tell my age, I don't know what does. :D |
OK!! I give up. I can't keep up with all of you Reality Show Buffs. With a few exceptions, I avoid them like the plague..:Grin-Nod:....But I do watch Big Brother and have, from the beginning. For some reason, I enjoy all that back-biting stuff.. ..But, If there were something better on, I wouldn't watch that, either.
I will watch A.I. tonight because "House" follows. I do enjoy it though and I'm rooting for Dolittle...she's a real talent and will go far and be remembered when all the others are long-gone and forgotten.:) In the meantime, I still enjoy reading this thread. |
