So Sorry to hear of your MILs fall. :(
Thinking of You and Family. |
So sorry to hear about your MIL's fall. That seems to happen so often with older people -- and people like us who take lots of steroids!!
Yes, I've seen the Pussycat Dolls a couple times but it seems to be on when something else is. How about Dancing with the Stars? I like that too so am anxious to see the results tonight along with AI. These reality shows are so "addictive" -- years ago I thought I wouldn't like them but once I got started.........!!!! |
Ok, I watched A. I. with furver tonight and putting Melinda entirely aside, be cause she will go far with or without a win here, My vote is for Jordan and Chris, in that order.
They were all good tonight, singing the songs that inspire, but the heart and soul of singing was in Jordan and Chris, tonight. OK...Off to watch House. |
Well lucky for me, there was no visitation from 6:30 to 8:00! So I made sure I had command of the TV in the visitors lounge. Whether the other visitors wanted to or not, I introduced them to American Idol. But I couldn't concentrate on it real well cause it's a big lounge with a small TV and several people talking. Again I didn't like Lakisha or Chris. Even though Blake was kind of copy cat, he did well. And I just love Jordin and Melinda. I still don't know which one I want to win. But the one that doesn't will get a wonderful offer anyway.
I didn't get to watch House cause we were in visiting and I was checking with the night nurse which seems to have a wonderful bedside manner both with the patient and family. So we talked awhile. I was a critical care RN before MS and I really miss it so it was good to have a good talk about all the different meds she is on. Well I guess none of that had nothing to do with reality shows): |
 i hope your mil is doing better. i have a sick mil in the hosp too.
now y'all be good tonight. i am not going to be around. i am hunkering down with my  :pepsi: and watching AI. :Dancing-Chilli: go jordin...go jordin...:D |
Well no one was voted off!!!!!! But next week two get booted off(: But I guess that's only fair.AI was a good show tonight. Only problem i saw was the bossibility of Paula's dress not holding her 'girls' in.
With MIL, you go two steps forward and three steps back. B/P is stable but colon is shutting down and getting some collapsed lung because all the Morphine and laying flat since Monday(: So hopefully Friday will work. |
Although I had the TV on during Survivor, I really wasn't able to concentrate on it because of phone ringing all the time. I just know what the two challenges were and that Mookie is out. To bad your alliance has to vote you out in order to save his butt the next week. But he has to remember that his best bud and alliance is now on the jury. Will he remember that Alex voted him off because it is a game and everyone is out for the Million? Alex is now his own alliance all by his little lonesome self and he needed to show the other group that he was willing to vote off his last horseman. But will they see that as someone that doesn't stick to his promise, and will his word hold any credence any more? Am I just rambling a on and on?
Tomorrow is the surgery day. We are between a rock and a hard place. If we don't do surgery until she is more stable, she could die of pnemonia because of prolonged bedrest flat on her back. If we do do surgery, she may die because of all the other problems she had before she broke her hip and all new problems that have occured waiting to get stable. So off we go and we will try to address each complication as it comes. She said today she just wants to get back to Cracker Barrell for some biscuits and gravy. Hopefully that will be enough to help her fight! |
Quote:
Yummmm bisquits a gravy..We always went to Bob Evans for their's. I hope she is enjoying some soon.:) Take care of yourself too, |
my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family doydie. take care of you too. |
I'm praying your MIL's surgery went well and she'll have a speedy recovery process. Those biscuits and gravy sound wonderful -- some chicken added would be even better!! lol
Has anyone else found this reality show -- Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search on CMT? Last season it was a search for one new person, but this year it's a pair. One regular "coyote" paired up with a totally new person. The winners get $50,000. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Some rain here so it's OUCHERS again -- but -- the daffodils, hyacinths, forsythia, etc., are beautiful!! Spring is such a great time of "rebirth"! Take care........ |
Judy, I haven't seen any of the Ugly Coyote shows. There was a TLC program, or I think it was TLC, that featured that bar. It was about an everyday person that took on a challenge of doing something totally different and she chose trying to be an Ugly Coyote girl.
It looks like Amzing Race is finally going to get to the final three. For the last two weeks they have had non-elimination races. I think it will actually be an all female winning team for the first time. I don't think Eriq and Danielle can quit fighting long enough to strategize to win. I think Danielle actually changed her top tonight though. I think she has worn the same top during each show (: Even though she does look sexy in it, I'm sure it was beginning to smell. I liked the plane scrubbing challenge tonight. Did those contestants really think that drill sargeant was going to let them get by with anything but perfect? On the home front, my MIL finally is getting better. All tubes are out now, just an IV. She will start getting up tomorrow and maybe get out of ICU. It's been one very long week. I was wanting to go see the grandkids this week but that will have to be postponed(: Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. |
I haven't watched the new Coyote Ugly competition but I did watch some re-runs of the old one. I was disappointed Asia won the PCD's... I hoped Melissa would win, or Chelsea even. But more Melissa.
Doydie, glad to hear MIL is doing a bit better. Well, we'll see who wins Amazing Race. I hope either the Barbie Dolls or Myrna and Charla. Can't even remember who went home on Survivor last week... they are all blending into each other. Still hoping Yau Man wins the whole thing though... He works hard and is such a good guy. Glad they took the spark out of Mookie's plan to put yau man on the spot at tribal council and let everyone know he had the idol. It turned out he looked stupid for actually going thru yau man's things and finding it. wish yau man would have been part of the group winning the reward though... he deserved some good food and comfort. |
Wannabe, Mookie was voted out last week. One of the votes was from one of his own horsemen Alex. Some say Alex was completely wrong and a rat for doing it, others say it's all in the game. Oh well.
MIL still stable but I told the surgeon I wanted to kiss his feet when he said he wanted to keep her in ICU for two more days!. I guess she is still in enough renal failure that she has gained over 20 pounds in one week. And she hasn't had anything to eat yet so it's all water. I'm not having the phone in my bedroom tonight and no alarm!!!!!!!! |
Hope you got a good night's sleep, doydie! That running back and forth to the hospital can really be exhausting, plus the emotional part. Glad to hear your MIL is stable but hope something will be done about that extra fluid. I know from my feet/ankles/legs swelling, but mine is lymph, it can be really painful.
Be sure and take good care of you!!! |
The word tonight is Bon Jovi...woooooHoooooo!!
Melinda, Blake, Phil, Chris...In that order. |
Tonight I made the mistake of listening to AI while on the phone with my Mom. I have really missed being with her the last week while I've been at the hospital with my MIL.
It is so funny her being an AI fan. She is a very conservative Southern Baptist preachers wife. Maybe she ejoys it becuase it's something she can share with one of her kids. All of her kids watch Survivor and we haven't gotten her to join us on that one. Anyway, I really didn't get to hear the competition all that well. I would say singing but I hear Blake put a lot of his own talent in his song. I still really like Phil. But it's Jordin and Mellinda for me. It will be interesting to have two voted off tomorrow night. I guess Ryan will still have the three lowest stand together. Oh, I forgot. Someone mentioned the CMT series The ultimate coyote ugly search. So I watched several episodes tonight. I guess if I had started it at the beginning, I would have continued watching it. Who knows, I am addicted enough to reality shows that I might just 'go to' the finals with those girls! |
Sally -- I agree -- Bon Jovi! Woo hoo!!! I enjoy the part of the program when each contestant is meeting with the "guest" who is giving them tips, suggestions, etc. It makes them seem more "human".
My favorite, Jordin, didn't do so well this time and she admitted she's not a rocker. Lakisha hit it though and Simon gave her a kiss -- on the lips! Ewwwwww! Simon that is. Melinda was terrific as always along with Blake and Phil, IMO. You're right doydie, that Coyote Ugly Search is fun to watch. They repeat the episodes quite often and I can't remember if it's Wednesday or Saturday when there's a new one. So far the gals from New York City are the best. Shear Genius is on tonight (Wednesday) on Bravo at 10 pm here. At least there seems to be a reality show for everybody! Have a good day everyone! |
i felt so bad for jordin. her hair...her outfit..her shoes. she looked so out of her element. she didn't sound like herself either. :(
i thought phil did great. blakes new hair color was a hit with me too. i have to agree...that slimey lip gloss kiss....EWWWWWWWWWW. |
Idol worshiper here too.......
I am on pins and needles tonight with 2 going ...ohhh no here it goes.......I am shaking in my boots..... |
I'm really not agreeing with Phil going home...geez. If Jordin goes home tonight and those mealy-mouthed guys stay, I'll slit my wrists! I don't care how "original" Blake is...if doing that beat-box crap is original, then they can keep originality. I like singers who can sing, and neither of those guys can compare to Jordin Sparks.
Grrrrr... |
I would not have guessed that Phil would go either.
I would rather have see Lakisha go. It didn't surprise me that Chris goes home. I'm glad that Blake stayed, but his days may be numbered. |
Rex I agree....she is my pick to win.....I think shes an adorable person @ heart...shes a good entertainer and she has a beautiful voice......
I would love to go see the tour when it comes around.....would have loved to have seen last years too.....I have the cd of the 06 group...and ill get the 07 group when it comes out.....makes perfect cruzin music. I did make my eyes well up when Phill was singing his song tonight and when he went to his wife and kissed her......he is truely a sweet heart.... |
I was so sorry to see Phil go tonight. He was a class act, nice haircut too! LOL I'm not surprised at Chris. I'm not a Justin Timberlake fan. I keep thinking that Lakisha will go any week though. She just seems so much older than all the others. I know she has loads of talent, is a single Mom, could probbaly win if the other girls are somehow voted off first, but she's just not my pick. It's at this stage of the game that all of them could win and make good AI winners.
Survivor night tomorrow!!!!!!!! I have this terrible feeling that Yau man is going to be voted off. EVen though he has the Immunity idol, he has agreed to share it with Earl. If the group convinces Yau that Earl is going, Yau might give it up but then they vote for Yau instead. |
Go Jordin!! Go Jordin!! Go Jordin!! Guess Blake was the best of the "boys", but I don't really care for him either.
Just to correct myself, Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search is Friday night. (Hope that's right this time!) Has anyone been watching "The Bachelor" this time? I don't like the whole concept of this one but it's kind of funny with all the "cat-fights" and back-stabbing among the girls. I'm sure this year's bachelor wouldn't have any trouble getting a girl on his own, but then there wouldn't be the show or the $$$!!! The sun is shining, the grass is green, so at least things are looking up in my world! Have a good day/night everyone. |
phil did great on tuesday, but i don't think he had a big enough fan base.
|
Curious, I love your picture of the book. I love to read the whole series to my granddaughter.
Goodby Alex. The last of the 4 Horsemen. I say last because Dreamz was never really one. His alliance still thinks they can trust him (: I have a feeling Yau Mans' days are going to be up soon. Pretty soon they can't use the immunity idol so it won't even do him any good. The whole tribe see him as a threat now. I thought they were eating pretty good but Dreamz is looking pretty thin. Season finale of Amazing Race is Sunday. No I don't watch the Bachelor. It's the cat fighting I can't stand. What I can't take is that all the women, or men if it's the Bachelorette, are totally in it for the money only. I think there has only been one match that has turned into a long lasting relationship and I think that the show is just selling those characters for money which in my book is prostitution. I know I'm not verbalizing what I am trying to say, but I think it's just wrong. But I also know that people have to agree to disagree on what they like to watch. |
Well, glad to see Yau Man safe for another week, although they scared us with the possibility that he might go.
I was hoping Myrna and Charla would win Amazing Race, but just glad the beauty queens didn't win. Wonder who will go home on Dancing with the Stars this week? I don't like the Bachelor either. It just seems so childish... nothing interesting so they 'create' something interesting by the highschool dramas. Yaawn..... |
I can't believe I didn't post after Amazing Race ended Sunday night!!!!! Yeh, I liked the cousins and wished they had won. I know Mirna had a lot of guts to her but she just couldn't run as fast as the others. Charla could pull her on her cute little shoes and it was kind of like skating but that was impossible on the rocky beach. Then they just lost it trying to row against the current.
Eric's strength won him on that one. They won despite two yields, coming in last place and being marked for elimination. They were one gutsy couple. American Idol on tomorrow night and then Survivor on Thursday and the finale Sunday. Our family hasn't finalized plans for Mothers Day dinner. It better not be in the evening(: |
back to ai from last week...
am i the only one who was disappointed at bon jovi's performance? i was waiting to be rocked out..instead...i was bored. :o |
I really don't 'watch' the results show. Crossing Jordan is on at the same time and I turn it over to American Idol during commercials. I'm not a Bon Jovi fan to begin with so I idn't make an effort to watch him. Now with the Bee Gees, that's another story.
|
Tonight was all Jordan. What more can I say.:)

The 'prediction' site has Jordin way ahead. Tonight she outshined, (is that a word), everyone.
|
all i can say is...who thunk up making them sing bee gee songs?
hehehe doydie..i'm making up words too. :p yep...it was jordin's night. my daughter called and called her voting numbers. :D i agree ceci. i really was disapointed when they raised the age of the contestants. it let in too many whwo have already sung "professionally". |
Quote:
Really, though, demographics are always a consideration. FWIW, if we had not been able to hear old lady Melinda (29) to sing, I think it would have been regrettable. The other point I want to make is that, just because someone has sung professionally, that doesn't mean that they have had more training. Paris Bennet - only 16 - was schooled for years by her aunt and other professional singers in her family, but she herself was not a pro. Melinda, although she has worked as a back-up singer, may have had no training at all, for all we know. You get hired based upon your ability to sing; they don't do on-the-job training for singers - especially back-up singers. If you aren't solid already you don't get past the audition. So having sung professionally is not necessarily an advantage. I thought Melinda and Jordin clearly outshined the other two last night. Blake was atrocious - oy. His "unique" style has been exposed as the only trick in his bag. Without that silly beat-box stuff, he's nothing. Lakisha, IMO, sings like a million other people; pretty good, but certainly not great; there's no music in her voice. Assuming things go as they should, I will have a hard time voting against either Jordin or Melinda when the final vote rolls around. |
I was really suprised. I went over to the .com vote prediction site and after all phone votes were 'counted', Blake is ahead of Jordin now. Lakisha is way down in the bottom. But this is only a prediction site. Last week they had Phil in second place and Lakisha in last. So they can't predict very well. The nasty little site that Howard Stern endorses is promoting everyone to vote for Lakisha. Sanjaya was their poster boy, Phil took over and now it's Lakisha. It is their goal to get everyone to vote for the least able to win, to show the public what a sham the show is. Last year Talylor Hicks was their man and he won.
|
The people voting for their A.I., as much and as often as posible, is kind of a sham operation. I can see how it could take on a life of it's own and get the wrong Idols eliminated from the final three.
There is a final three, isn't there? Or do I have AI mixed up with another show? |
Yes Sally, there is now a final three on AI. Blake, Melinda and Jordin. Lakisha left tonight. Pondering about how she hasn't done as well the last couple of weeks, I was wondering if she has been homesick for her little girl. She is a single Mom. I'm sure she will have a successfull career.
There will also have a final three on Survivor. They started that last year I think. But we still have six. So somehow between tomorrow night and the second hour Sunday, they will have to get rid of three constestants. My final three for that is Earl, Yau and Dreams. I put Dreams in there because I don't think anyone will vote for him, when they find out how much he has double crossed them all. Then Earl and Yau will have a clean debate and vote for the million. They started out as friends and will go all the way to the end. |
I was surprised that Lakisha went home before Blake. I really think he should have been next. Funny, I closed my eyes when Lakisha was singing and could have sworn it was Fantasia... they really sound alike. My money's on Jordin now too... such a beautiful voice. Melinda almost sounds too "professional" or something. Jordin sounds pure.
No surprise last night that Billy Ray went bye-bye, right? Nice guy but he just could not dance. Surprise he lasted longer than Heather Mills though, it is MUCH harder to be a female amateur than a male, and I thought she did quite well... considering. Curious, as to Bon Jovi... I just don't think he could do anything to dim his light... he's just too nice a guy, too GOOD a guy personally... well, he's just tops in my books. I can forgive him a performance that wasn't his best. You know, to be honest I didn't even know he was producing any more records until I watch some charity work he's involved in and then he sang the "have a nice day" song which I LOVE. I just love that he's just a regular guy, long-time marriage, basic family guy and not a "celebrity's celebrity". Good guy. Nice to see Pink up there tonite singing too. Man, there are a LOT of people with sore dialing fingers after the #'s of votes they're counting these days. I know I've tried to do it myself in past seasons and only managed to do just over a thousand. So there are some people developing carpal tunnel in their fingers I'm thinking. ;) Yep Survivor finale coming up... I'm still pulling for Yau Man. And surely we have some other Big Brother fans here too? |
I've been watching AI this year and must admit, I've liked Blake from the start. He sets himself apart from what often appears to be a cookie-cutter approach to "molding an idol" and I can see him transcending the whole process. (Cases in point: most organically grown 'idols' in the music world [Sting, Gwen Stefani to name only two) wouldn't have made it past round 2 on AI :)). I like Jordin too of course - she just gets better and better each week! I'd be happy to see either of them win, even though their careers should take off regardless.
Melinda's arleady in a league of her own. She's got a great voice and a really cool way of styling her songs. But in that she's no ingenue, she seems somewhat miscast on AI ...even though she knocks it out of the park each week, it's almost like the judges don't know what to do with her anymore. Interesting stuff! becca44 |
