Hey everyone!
I just received my 'MS Active Wellness Fitness with Katrina' DVD in the mail today. Put the DVD in and was about to start the fitness program, she started off with taking your resting heart rate. in thirty seconds mine was 59 beats, all the other patients on the video was 28-32 beats. So mine was doubled of theirs and I have been sitting all day, not being active. So why is it that my heart rate is so fast? I started thinking about it and it seems that that fast of a heartbeat at all times couldn't possibly be okay. Does anyone know what the fast resting heart rate is indicating? ..hopefully NOT more health problems. |

It's only a little above normal. Normal is between 60 to 100 beats per minute. So 59 beats per 30 seconds would mean your heart is beating 9 times more than "normal." How much do you exercise? The more you exercise the lower your heart rate. Were you doing a lot before you took your heart rate? Are you up tight or nervous about things? That could increase your heart rate.
I think you are fine but if it bothers you, you can talk to your doctor about it. ![]() |

If you have been on steroids lately, that can affect your heart rate.

Funny I saw this post today. I met with a cardiologist in NY today to get clearance for the ketamine infusion and we discussed my resting hear rate which has been 110+ for almost 5 yrs now, basically since my pain first started and I had my first cervical surgery.
Long story short - the cardiologist said it's perfectly normal for people with conditions such as RSD or MS to have high resting heart rates. Normally if pain does get reduced, the rate rate should also go down. Good news is she said it's really nothing to be alarmed about and no long term damage to your heart from it. She did say if it's over 150, it's a different story. |

Sorry it's been so long for me to respond!
Thank you all for your responses! I was thinking it was still the Pred. thats still in me increasing my heartbeat, but it's still fast at resting, so I'm thinkin it's prolly what Aacryn's doc said. Which is definitely comforting, I can live with that! lol Again I apologize for taking so long to respond but thanks again everyone!!! <3 ![]() |
