Intermittent FMLA is the usual title for this. You can use FMLA for scheduled and unscheduled appointments and hospitalization as long as you have worked 1250 hours in the past year, or if you have a family member who is ill and needs you with them.
Your husband would have to apply for FMLA through his own company to use this to accompany you. There's a lot of other requirements, such as the number of employees a company has, etc, so read the federal FMLA act AND your state's FMLA act. Some states have better laws than the federal law. The federal law is the standard.
