Your link wouldn't come up for me. The one below works...thanks!
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...91488524526735# Update: I didn't watch the whole thing, but I get it and I believe it. Our FDA has a "acceptable losses" type rule of thumb. Some people go along with that and some don't. Most of the time. I don't, unless it is or may be an, otherwise, lifesaving drug.

They talk about MSG in the one I posted, too. They said it was once used in baby food!
![]() I'm the first to admit that I don't (and can't) always eat perfectly but I do try to. The one change I made that has helped me immeasurably is the fact that I only drink filtered water now. No soda. I used to drink Crystal Light alot. I remember my parents had the little white tablets of saccharin they used for tea and coffee. I wonder how much damage that sweetener did?

I gave up sodas/colas/pop... whatever name you want to give them, years ago. The only time I'll drink it is if I'm sick with the flu and I'll buy regular (non-diet) Canada Dry Ginger Ale, because it helps to settle my woozy tummy.

when I was dx with breast cancer I changed dramatically back to the way I was raised. Eating straight off the farm, and only suppliers that I personally know. i do eat some commercial products now, but I am a HUGE label reader. No HFCS or MSG and the like for me. I eat real sugar made from beets or cane if I am going to eat any. I prefer cane sugar. I eat the lightly processed variety. I cant stand the straight stuff, too much molassas for me. Watch out for soups, they are loaded! there are several names for MSG now. Yeast flour being one of them. so, learn your labels. Scary stuff.

I've gotten to where if it says "FDA Approved" I steer clear of it!

Is that ever scary, that FDA allows "acceptable losses". I'm the "loss" they allow because of my acute sensitivities.
Concerning saccharine, I used that when young and dieting and had no trouble, but aspartame gave me a temporarily paralyzed arm...doctor would not believe, as the paralysis went away in a few hours. I tried saccharine more recently to see if it was still as bad for me as aspartame and Splenda...no reaction to saccharine. My metabolism is VERY specific in what it will tolerate. I believe "natural flavors" is often a label hider for MSG, and I never buy things with "natural flavors" on the label, even though I know there could be other kinds which are OK. I use Blue Sky selzer water. It is expensive but it helps my digestion just as ginger ale helps. I buy it at Whole Foods or our natural foods coop. |

Hidden sources of MSG:
http://www.truthinlabeling.org/hiddensources.html Drinks, candy, and chewing gum are potential sources of hidden MSG and/or aspartame, neotame. and AminoSweet (the new name for aspartame). Aspartic acid, found in neotame, aspartame (NutraSweet), and AminoSweet, ordinarily causes MSG type reactions in MSG sensitive people. (It would appear that calling aspartame "AminoSweet" is industry's method of choice for hiding aspartame.) We have not seen Neotame used widely in the United States.

splenda is frequently now added to already sugared products. look at ALL of the ingredients and towards the end you will see sucralose. UGH! why do we need sugar AND splenda??
I never eat packaged soups, 99% of them have MSG. its a huge place to hide the stuff. I make my own broths, and gravy. You MUST be your own food detective or you can get very sick. NOTHING in nature is that color! I wont buy anything artificially colored or flavored. DH has a cast iron stomach, but I am easily upset. ick!
