Default Cabin fever!!!!!

So, I stopped being able to drive about last week I think it was. I had a whole year in the past that I couldn't drive so this definitely is not a first. My vision started going out of focus when I turn my head a few weeks ago, now it does it when I'm looking forward. Not continuous but it's happening a lot and I don't want to take a chance of not being able to see like I need while I'm driving.

I have people who will take me places when I need to, but I remember what it felt like to depend on everyone and it drives me nuts. To top that off, my daughter came down with strep and started antibiotics on Tuesday, so we can't be around anyone until tomorrow. This is the second time she's had it in about a month and her tonsils tend to stay big. She may be in for a tonsillectomy. My poor baby is turning out to get sick a lot like I did as a kid, I really was hoping she wouldn't!

Sorry, squirrel, can't stay on topic

Well my kids are going crazy being stuck in the house and so I'm going even crazier!!! Along with getting ready for a birthday party this Sunday and making the special Mario cake for my son.

Okay I'm good, I vented, thanks all!

Whooo, preaching to the choir! im am bat guano crazy by staying in this house! I went blind with the last MS attack, and while I can use special things to get on the computer, I last about ten minutes and then cant take the headache that results from trying to do anything that requires vision.

I cant watch TV. I cant read a book. I cant cook or I will burn down the house, I am sick and tired of not being able to do stuff for ME! its MY house! its MY life! its MY car! yet I have to have folks drive me in it! I have to have someone read my prescription bottles to help me call in a refill. I have to have someone guide me in the grocery store so I can find the milk.

Im sick to pieces of this stupid disease and think I will hunt for my receipt so I can trade it in.

Me, too. I haven't driven for a while due to my bad eyesight. My driver's license is good till 2016 but I don't know if I'll be able to get another one then. I hope so. I won't drive.......but just don't want to give up that last piece of independence.

I get cabin fever from time to time but usually it doesn't last long. It's just me and my pets here so I really don't have to contend with anyone else but me. Pets can be demanding but it's not the same as having alot of other people around.

I read alot. And cook some. I like trying out new recipes. Took me several tries to realize that I need to at least cut the recipe in half otherwise I have the same leftovers for a week or more!

There are days when I'd love to just take a ride and see what's changed in my little town. Last time I got to do that I discovered it's not so "little" anymore. Lots of new stuff popped up when I wasn't looking.

I just try and focus on the positive things I have. A warm (or cool) house, plenty of food, water, things that some folks have to fight to have. I know......that doesn't cure the problem of cabin fever but it's just what I do to ease the claustrophobic feelings when they hit.

Good luck with the Mario cake! I hope the party is a hit!!

I don't really have cabin fever, but I sure do miss being spontaneous and just jump in my car and go!!

Right now, I'm enjoying, sitting on my warm comfy sofa, in my warm cozy house, looking out the window at the nasty cold rainy weather. But there are days......

I think one reason I don't have cabin fever is that I CHOOSE not to go anywhere. I still drive and I have a car, but I don't feel like going anywhere. I didn't go out the door for a month, and I think I could have gone another month.

It's a lot different when it's not winter and I can choose a time I feel well and know there won't be slippery roads/parking lots.

I'm so sorry Losing eyesight like that is one of the symptoms that really scare the heck out of me! So every new symptom that has to do with vision is more stressful than any other. I do have to depend on everyone else to go anywhere and I can't read anymore for a few reasons. But I CAN still see to do the cakes that I make and see me two beautiful kids right now, I am so thankful for that. Not trying to stick your nose in that, you just reminded me how thankful I am for that.

Hey if you actually find a place to make that return, let me know, I want to make mine too, even if the lines are long!

I think there are a couple things that are making it worse. It has been GORGEOUS out the last few days for one! Then there's the fact that my husband, not trying to be upsetting to me, when I told him about this it was right away, "well that's gonna make things really hard, now I have to do ALL of the driving." When our friends heard about it they also went straight to how hard it was going to make it on HIM! Hello! I'm the one stuck here and having to depend on you, you think I LIKE this! I know they don't mean to come across like that, they just don't get it and it hurts. I love them and I know they would never intentionally say something to hurt me, but they did say it. It's bringing tears to my eyes just thinking of it.

But my daughter is no longer contagious today, so after the party on Sunday I will be able to have my Mom pick me up Monday morning for coffee at her house, that will help.

I'm sorry. People can be really insensitive at times when they don't stop to weigh their words before speaking them. I can totally relate to what you're saying, though. A friend of mine who I thought understood what I dealt with made the same comment about me asking my kids to take me places. I don't want to hear what an inconvenience I've become to them!

I can so relate!!! I hate that cabin fever feeling. I get it often. Sometimes I just need a jail break. I had some seizure activity again several months ago. I just past my 6 month without any activity so I am good to go. However, when I do drive, I stick close to home. DD20 is borrowing my car as she needs it to get to and from work. It is so hard to sit home all day and not go anywhere or see another person. I spent so much of my 6 months like that. It was not fun. I'm over by family now so it makes it much easier.

My only advice is to read if you can, pamper yourself as you see fit, take up some sort of hobby, and remember there is always time out for the kids. j/k Of course, when my girls were little we had nap time every day on the weekends and then as they got older it became rest time and then as teens it was break time. It was away for everyone to have some down time and time to themselves. Anyhow, hang in there and know you are not alone in how you are feeling.

I kind of wish I was alone in this. I don't want anyone to go through this!

I would LOVE to read! It had been one of my favorite past times, I could get lost in a book for days if I had nothing else I HAD to do. John Grisham is my favorite author. When my double vision kicked in about a year ago it made it so that if I read a page or so I got a sever headache. But I dealt with that. Then I got so that I would read one paragraph and it would take several hours because I couldn't remember what I read in the sentence before. I wanted to try audio books but I can't understand when people read to me.

A big bonus though! My friend took the kids and me out for a few hours today!!!! It was great to get out, even if it was for some grocery shopping and a long drive there and back. It was so great to get out and our other friends came over for games tonight.
