Default Muscles (specifically eye)

Afternoon all,

My muscles have been twitching in my right arm for the past nearly month now, but today my left eyelid has joined the party.

It is visibly twitching - the outer edge, and the inner part also. Essentially just like it is giving itself a workout.

Sigh.

Has anyone else had this? The arm is one thing, and is annoying and a right proper PITA, but this is obvious not just to me but others whereas the arm I can 'hide'.

Would appreciate any thoughts/others who have had the same.

I have had my lower lids twitch before when I'm really tired, but this is completely different. And visible. As mentioned. Whereas the tiredness one is more me noticing it and nobody else can see it!

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I've had this. It could be MS or not?

If it doesn't go away, I'd see your Eye Doc.

I've had the eye twitches, too, and they are indeed maddening.

I notice them much more when I'm concentrating on them. But when I get busy with other things and "forget" about them for a while sometimes they go away on their own. I'm wondering if relaxing helps to stop them?

I never know exactly when they stop....I just suddenly realize that they've stopped but just not sure when.

I get eyelid twitchings if I'm tired, but I agree with those who said you should see your doctor if the twitching continues for no known reason.

Eyelid muscles are one thing, and eye muscles are another though. If you have actual eye twitching, that's a different problem and probably more cause for concern. Eye muscle problems can definitely be related to MS.

Thanks for your replies. I am able to "forget" them at times, and then they rudely interject in something I am doing by making my eye do ridiculous things!

My eyes themselves aren't twitching, though it does feel as though there is pressure behind them, which it feels makes them almost splay outwards if that makes sense, but with the twitches, it is the upper eyelid. My vertigo has increased tenfold though, and I tend to associate that nearly always with the pressure feelings behind my eyes.

I had a few more blood tests done yesterday so hopefully they will give a little indication as to what is going on. And hopefully hear back from the specialist with an appointment time soon too.

Maddening. Tis though my entire body is short circuiting right now.

christobelle,

You might check to see if massaging the Sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle helps. Trigger points in the SCM muscle can cause dizziness (clavicular division) and twitching of the eye lid (sternal division). Trigger points as well as tightness of the SCM can also cause pain in the eye, headaches and facial/neck pain.

In my experience with it, the twitching of the eye lid stops almost immediately once you take hold of the SCM if it is caused by trigger points in the muscle.
