What mistakes/oooppppssss have you made due to cognitive / memory issues ???
For the last few weeks at work, we have been gearing up for this big training session at work. It is my responsibility to have the new database set up, and all the user accounts created so everybody could log in (I'm a Database Administrator). OK, this is just routine type thing for me so I'm thinking no biggy - I had it all done on Friday and ready for users to begin training on Monday (training is ongoing this entire week). During the day Tuesday, the vendor sends me a new "updated" database with more current data than what is in the current demo database... Here comes my OOPPPSSS... I saw the email with a link to download the database, I completely FORGOT that there is a training session ongoing (in spite of the big build up) -- I was thinking - "I have time - I will do this RIGHT NOW !!!" I wrote over the database that the users were working in. I knocked everybody out of their training session - took the database down - and lost all the accounts. I initially wanted to cry (but didn't have the luxury of falling apart) - the phone started ringing - people start coming to my desk wanting to know what had happened to the their training sessions. It took me 35 minutes of sheer terror to recover the database that the users had been working in (thank heaven for backups) - and get all the users back in and training again. I felt like a fool, but for some reason - after the initial SHOCK ![]() BUT - this is also the kind of things that I have begun doing in the last year that scares me to death !!! If I had written over a Production database - I could be fired - on the spot !!! I cope by bobbing my head and saying things like "another blonde moment" or I am having a very blonde day - but I also know the serious implications and my co-workers and managers all know that in reality - these things upset me horribly - I just joke my way through things as a coping mechanism I suppose. Anyway - that is one of mine. Please tell me yours.... Make me feel better - I need to know I am not alone... ![]()

I've been mixing up my right and left sides. Kept telling the eye tech at the optho's office yesterday that it was my left eye that hurt, even tho I kept pointing to the right eye.
I also wanted to check something on the computer last night. So I got my laptop, turned it on and by the time it booted up, I was sitting there wondering why I just booted up my computer. Ended up playing games on Webkinz World instead. Didnt remember what I wanted to look up until this morning while reading the paper. |

I took food out of the freezer to defrost for supper. When the time
came to start supper I said "OH NO" I didn't take anything out of the freezer. So I proceeded to make something else and there on the counter was my defrosted food. I was reading a book. Got up to make some tea. Came back into the livingroom sat down and watched TV. After awhile I saw the book on the table and looked at it and realized I was reading not watching TV. There are so many other things that I have done,it scares me to think how many blank moments I have. ![]() Jappy ![]() |

AWW, Snoodles. That would not be fun. However, I saw the humor in it as well. Funny how when the computers go down at work or a software all he!! breaks loose. I have completely been there and have been on the receiving end of all the phone calls and people walking in to my office (employees freaking out and docs yelling). Oh the joys - don't miss that.
Now that I am in forced semi-retirement, I work from home doing transcription work. A few weeks ago my the words went in my ear and registered what I was supposed to type. I knew what I was supposed to type. However, what came out was misspelled words. LOL. My left hand was typing c's when it should have been a w or a z when it should have been an a. It was all on my left hand. It was frustrating but funny as well. So bizarre. LOL. |

Great timing on this... Been too mortified to share this with anyone, other than my closest friend... I just started a new med - and it's a patch I'm supposed to place on my HIP. Well, yesterday morning, I put it on my "hip" - and then last night, at 9pm, when I went to take it off - it occurred to me - "I don't think this is my hip" - and I seriously could NOT remember for the life of me - if that part of my body was my hip. I was totally freaking out - not sure what to do. Not upset b/c I may have misplaced the patch - but b/c I didn't know my body parts! I had a meltdown of sorts - I'm totally freaked out by this still...and don't know what to do. Turns out I put it on my thigh. Duh. I even went online and looked up thigh and hip to try to determine which was which (I had confused them). And of course, any time I tell people that I forget things or whatever - they all say "oh yeah, I do that" - and several of them are in their 50s - going thru menopause or whatever. Well, I'm just 32 - this isn't normal. Maybe it's from stress - or the MS - I don't know - either way - I'm freaked out by this - and didn't even know who to tell - and then funny (or not so funny) enough, this thread showed up today. I don't think it's normal for me to suddenly not know which body part is which. Like it didn't even occur to me to think "okay, hands on your hips" or anything like that. Didn't even think of that one. Had no idea that I had put it in wrong place or that I confused the part until I took it off and looked at it and thought - is that my hip - yeah, it is - the thigh is in back, right? Uh, no...the thigh is in front. What's wrong with me? ![]() ~Keri |

Math's my thing, always has been. Went to my daughter's student lead conferences today and she gave me a minute-long math test. I could not even comprehend the questions as fast as she asked them, but once I did, I could calculate the answer very quickly. I lost all my "marks" on slow comprehension though (like she was speaking another language
![]() I forget my kids all over the place. ![]() When I was still working, I would start down a train of thought, and by the time I got to point 3, I had to start all over again (and again, and again). I was totally unproductive and knew it was time to leave the workforce! Cherie

I had no idea what was wrong but I knew he wasn't liking it. The next year at the same type meeting, I fell off the stage. Yep, just standing there & BLAM. ![]() Oh lordy....good times! ![]()

So I walked back in the house and picked up the phone, and dialed my DH work. When I remebered that he has our only car at work!!(ok,It was so funny afterwards).I had to make something up as for why I was calling him at work. Geeze, that was horrible.. |
