I'm also a rule-keeper, by the book type of person, and for the first two and a half years, I think I only missed one shot (Copaxone) and that was not deliberate.
The last few months, I've had a bad day here and there, and just said, "nah, not tonight." I've never read anything (or don't remember) that indicated a change in efficacy if a shot were skipped once a month, once a week, whatever. There's no way they can really "prove" anything about this stupid disease anyway. If I get worse, does that mean the Copaxone isn't helping? Or does it mean that if I weren't on the Copaxone, I would have gotten a LOT worse? If I skip one shot a week, does that mean I'll end up in a wheelchair two months sooner? Does it mean I've interrupted the system and it won't work at all? Does it just mean I have less in my body so it works less efficiently? This isn't a good day for me to be answering this question, I guess.

I guess it's all a big gamble. I was told that I could get worse in the future without the shots. Well, I took the darn shots and I got worse. Would I have been even worse than I am now if I hadn't taken the DMD's? No one knows for sure.

I have to admit that sometimes I wonder if it makes a darn if I skip one now and again. The success rate is so low for this stuff anyway, and I get miserable with lumps, and so on. The MD said a mental health day break can be more beneficial than being on this every single day no matter what. Sometimes it beneficial to be naughty for a day. I could have hugged him. Till then I had not missed a single shot unless told to by the MD, and was ansty about it. After 2 years of being on this, I am not so panic stricken anymore if I miss one once a month or so. I do make it a massage day if I miss.

I had to take a refresher on giving meds and I had to learn to give glucogon and insulin shots. Just that training threw me that weekend, I had the hardest time giving myself my shot for some reason.
![]() I'm one of those by the book people most of the time. I take Avonex once a week, I do pretty good unless I take a break from doing my own shot. I've let my hubby give it in my arms and then I had a really hard time doing it myself again. I can see how you can want to miss a dose, every day would be hard, sometimes if I've had a bad reaction I fine myself thinking about it all day and dread it terribly, but I still reluctantly do it. |

I have not been taking the Avonex with me when I travel. Take the shot the night before I leave, then the night I get back. With week long trips this only changes the shot a couple of days. This year I am going for a little over two weeks, still won't be bad.

I'm on Avonex so sonetimes it's hard to remember every Monday night. But I do have a huge problem with procrastination. Or is that just an excuse? So I have done some really bad things like take a shot that I had missed on Saturday and then my regualr one on Monday!!! I think one week I actually took two shots at one time. Yes, I am bad.

Dej, I can't remember if I talked about it at the time, but I had arm spasms from injecting there and my Shared Solutions nurse told me to skip the arms and do 6/7 shots weekly, doing 2 shots in the stomach.
Prior to that, I was a faithful 'shooter' ![]() Of course now, I don't even do any shots. ![]()

I've been doing my Copaxone every other day (ideally) for a couple of years now with no terrible effects. Sometimes I can't remember if it's shot day or not, so I might miss an extra day just for good measure. The cost was just breaking my bank account, and when studies started to come out showing every-other-day dosing to be effective, I jumped right on that bandwagon!

I've been inconsistant lately.... It has been a rough year and I've been letting it get the best of me but I'm trying to get back on track. I've taken my shot every day this week and I'm going to take it today!
I find my mood affects my ability to stay on track, when its a rough day I'm more likely to skip my shot and I've got to stop doing that. The best we can do is try , try again when we slip off track and get back on. I know god doesn't give me more than he thinks I can handle but some times I wish he wouldn't trust in me so much ![]() Take care every one. ![]()
