Good Morning....it's 3:30 AM and I'm wide awake!!
![]() Has anyone else noticed a major change in sleeping patterns since your dx? I used to get 5 to 6 hours of consistent sleep a night. Not alot but enough for me. Now.....I sleep 2 to 3 (maybe 4 if I'm lucky) hours at a stretch. Since I can nap if I want to during the day I haven't really concerned myself about this "schedule". If I still worked.....I'd be in trouble!! ![]() Why is sleep so evasive to me now? When MS fatigue hits me I can sleep for hours. And still feel like I just ran a marathon when I wake up. Guess I should be thankful for small favors since I'm obviously not suffering from fatigue at the moment. Just wondering what kind of sleep issues everyone else has.

Good morning Kitty. I'm wide awake too!
![]() I think our reasons are a bit different though.

Hi Kelly, I was on the computer it 3:30 too -- central time. I went to bed a little before 11:00 and was awake at 3:30. And I take ambien. It seems if I get up for a liitle while and watch tv or play computer games, I can then go back to sleep. I lay down for awhile most afternoons. but cannot fall asleeep. I wonder if I may have sleep apnea. I did not bring it up at my last doctor's appointment -- new pcp. But I probably will in the future. I know at this point I am addicted to ambien

I laid awake at 2 wondering the same thing. Sleep is so precious to me, and now it seems the only way I can sleep is through medications. I have always been able to sleep deeply, untroubled, and calmly. Now through exhaustion it seems as if I am too tired to sleep, and yet, unable to sleep to refresh myself. I lay awake at 2 grumbling about how tired I am. The room is dark, the night is still, the cats are all tucked in, and I lay roasting in my bed.
We gotta fix this! ![]()

I've weaned myself off all my meds except LDN, my thyroid med, my HBP med and the occasional Baclofen. I don't take an AD or any kind of sleeping pill.
Usually, during the week, after everyone has left for the day I go back to bed (around 7:30 AM) and can sleep until at least 11 AM. Some days I don't (or can't) but usually I do. I'm not excessively sleepy during the day and if I do get tired I take a nap. During the day I'm interrupted more often than not, though, by the phone or the doorbell or just by daytime noises like lawn mowers, etc. It hasn't really caused a problem for me since I can pretty much take a nap whenever I want to. If I wake up during the night I get up and play on the computer or watch a little TV until I get sleepy again. I can usually go back to sleep without a problem. I've never been one to sleep 8 hours (except when fatigue hits). Not even as a teenager. And, I'm a morning person. LOVE the mornings. Love to sip coffee as the sun comes up and the birds start singing. I'm sorry ya'll are having trouble sleeping, too. If I could work and had to be somewhere at a certain time I'm fairly sure this would all become a big problem for me.

I had really bad insomnia before LDN ... well either that or I would sleep for 20 out of 24 hrs.
![]() Since going on LDN, I only sleep about 6 hrs a night, but that seems to work out ok for me. I do need to nap a few hours every day too though, but fortunately I have the freedom to do that. Since I don't work any more, I don't normally tire myself out ... I think that contributes to how much sleep I need. However, I have found I am sleeping much better since Spring has sprung, maybe because I am out in the yard gardening, cutting lawns, etc. ... so I am using up much more energy these days. Cherie

I usually sleep at 4hr intervals, too. I'll go to sleep watching TV at about midnight and wake up at about 4am, when LDN has raised my endorphin level, back to sleep at 5 and up at 9am....so I get eight hrs of sleep and usually am refreshed in the morning.
I actually, like my sleep pattern now. It seems to work for me. Of course I also take a 2 to 3hr nap in the afternoon.. ![]()

![]() (kidding, just kidding).. Since starting Ty, my sleep schedule is strange. I start really waking up around 10pm..While I'm used to having to sleep 10 or more hrs a night, now I can only sleep 8. It's really odd, but then again, that could be just me..

I wake up during the night, too. I think it's because my Zanaflex wears off, and my muscles stiffen.
I try not to nap during the day, because I remember my mom telling me before the babies were born, "if they nap a lot during the day, they'll be up all night." So I force myself to stay awake, only sitting and resting when I become weak from weariness. Kitty, try to stay awake more during the day...it might reset your internal clock...

Kelly, I was wondering if you are eating a good solid meal at dinner ... I will be kept awake by that, and sometimes have to get up and eat at 2:00 in the morn to fall asleep.
