Default Anesthetic for Surgery

I need to have surgery, gyn stuff., hystercopic removal of growth on uterus., D and C and Bartholin cyst removal. My gyn suggests a general anesthesia as I am overweight and she feels a local with a twilight sleep is not a good idea , I suggested a regional., she says to talk to the anesthesiologist, I spoke to my neuro , he felt a General would be fine., I am just so nervous., I have never had any chest muscle issues., but I am just nervous as I have not had surgery before., just orthoscopic of the knee.
Please help................I have to talk to the anesthesiologist first .........the hospital and nurse from the hospital will call me first.
What should I ask., ???anything specific., what type of anesthetic has anyone had?
Thanks.
