Hi I'm not exactly a young person, being 68, but I'm not diabetic. My doctor thinks the strange feeling in my feet - feel sort of numb, although theyre not - and very tight on the top of them is due to peripheral neuopathy and doesn't seem to think there is much to worry about. They also feel as if I've got thick socks on and padded toes. Very wierd. I'd always assumed it was to do with my bad spinal condition but my doc said it's not as both feet feel the same. Does anyone else on here have this without anything else wrong with them? I don't get any pain. I'm just worried. Thank you if you can answer this.

Please go down to the Peripheral Neuropathy Forums and take a look at the resources that are there! Be sure to read all the 'Stickies' at the top of the forum pages... as they are chock full of PN info and about meds that help or don't and therapies that help or don't ...well, you get my drift.
Please read a few pages of the forums so you get a handle on all the different sorts of folks there and then? Don't be afraid to ask questions!
As for 'socks on'? vs. 'socks off'? I'd take socks OFF any day! But then, how could I ever keep my feet WARM?

I have these exact symptoms...like I have tight socks on. I too, am not diabetic. I also think it might be due to some spinal condition because I sit a lot each day on a computer. I am 67, quite healthy and used to be very active in sports until about 10 years ago. I still cycle and indoor row although I have let this slip for a few months now. My numbness started about 4 years ago and was sporadic - now it is almost constant and more pronounced when I drive. You are the first person I have found who has described the same symptoms as what I feel.

So sorry you're having funny feet problems. It is no fun, I'm sure.

Just wondering if you've tried elevating your feet above your heart.

This will take swelling down, if there's any fluid gathering.

Also, soaking your feet in Epson Salts may make them feel better.

Firstly, thanks for the response.

I do know that in the morning, when I wake, the numbness is at its least. I've never tried elevating above my head for any length of time.

Sometimes there is fluid swelling and sometimes not - no specific pattern.

Never tried Epsom Salts - the numbness was something I just endured without knowing what it might be....until I found this forum.

It took me a while to understand the navigation here and I now see there is a specific Peripheral Neuropathy sub-group, so I'm headed over there now to read a lot more.

I have had that feeling on and off. Also told it is neuropathy. Was told to put my legs up higher when I sit. cannot recall if that helps
