Default Hi - new here

Hello Everyone,
I have come to the forum with the hope that someone here may be able to help me with what's going on as the doctors don't have a clue, or at least just understand the pain and frustration I am feeling at the moment. A year ago I was a reasonably healthy if not a bit overweight 47 year old.
I have always suffered from migraines but I suffered my first Hemiplegic Migraine and ended up in hospital for 3 days with paralysis down my right side which all went away fine. They prescribed me medication and although they have not completely gone away they are much better than they were.
Over the last 9 months I have been experiencing weakness and pain in my arms and legs. Firstly it was both sides but now it is in only my right side with my right side being almost useless some days. The pain is intense at times and I walk with crutches on good days and get pushed around in a wheelchair if we are shopping. I potter around the house but my husband has to help me bath and dress.
The rhumatolagist has no idea what is wrong and has now passed the investigations over to my neurologist as she can only think it is to do with the Hemiplegic Migraines.
Has anyone else had anything like this sort of poralisis happen from these type of migraines?
Sorry for the long post!

Smile Welcome Karan!

You've found a wonderful place for support, care, and lots of information!
I'm so sorry for these painful conditions you are faced with.
There are many wonderful forums here at NT - Scroll down the list in the main menu and peek in anywhere.

I'm wondering about this pain and weakness you describe.
Has anyone mentioned anything to you about possible neuropathy? The Peripheral Neuropathy forum is one of the most active forums here and there is so much information on this.
Here's the direct link to get you there
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...aysprune=&f=20

Pay special attention to the top of the screen when you get there, as there is much info to be had. It's called Peripheral Neuropathy tips, supplements, etc. Also in the section called 'Sticky's'

I sure hope you can start getting answers to your dilema soon.
Just holler if you need help finding your way around the forums.

Caring,
Rae

Default Welcome to NT! Dear Karan,

I'm so glad you found this place. Lots of us know the frustration that comes of having clear symptoms but no diagnosis. I've had a lump in my stomach for 15 years of getting steadily worse but having no disease to treat.

The camaraderie of this place will help you where science leaves off (or doesnt start). Folks with similar experience to yours will share that, along with their humor, hopes, frustration, & best tips for surviving what would stop most ordinary humans in their tracks.

So introduce yourself around, start threads by reposting your introductory post on the several Forums, & start asking questions. Keep asking till you have enough answers to ask all new questions.

Take good care. Keep coming back.
