Hi. I am new here. Female age 64. I've had neuropathy in my feet for several years and currently take Metanx. 2 months ago I had a stroke and now my neuropathy seems to be getting worse. I just saw the information about B12 deficiency and would like thoughts on this. Thank you

Hi everyone,I'm new 2this site n finding it great.just a question,iv ad a av shunt put in nearly 2weeks ago,all went well.but today I find it hard 2 consentrate and light is really affecting my eyes.just wondering if this is normal,I'm new to shunts n not sure what 2expect after surgery.thanks so much.xx

Hi, found this site on the web hoping I can get some insight.
I noticed everytime I get a B12 shot in the rump, I'm out of commission for several days. It's so painful I can't even sleep at night. It's like a knife stabbing me if a move. And it last for about 3 to 4 days. B12 is very low so Dr gave a prescription for shot every week at 5000 units each. It even makes me nauseated and my appetite is low almost like a flu symptom.
Has anyone else had similar problem? The pain in the rump is the worst like a knife or pinched nerve.

Severely anemic patients when given injections of B12 may have temporary low potassium, as potassium is grabbed by the bone marrow to make red cells quickly. So eating potassium rich foods is a good idea.

You don't really need injections. Studies show oral can work if taken on an empty stomach, daily. 5mg of activated B12 called methylcobalamin works and is not expensive or hurtful and invasive.

I have my B12 injections in my arm. Sometimes sting when I get them but don't hurt afterwards. Have you asked for them in your arm?

Hello,I am new to this site.11 years ago I had electric shock pains in my left leg,behind the knee.They were severe and I have been left with nerve damage and disability as a result.
While in hospital with this problem they found that I had B12 deficiency and I now have a jab every 3 months to sort that out.There are no side effects from the B12 jab, it does sting for a short while,but that is all.A simple blood test was all that was needed to check.
I also went on Gabapentin for about 7 years-.Although left disabled the shock pains subsided,but now suddenly they have returned.I am back on the Gabapentin and am now trying to get the pains under control.
It is scary and my heart goes out to others on this site that I have been reading about.
