Smile G'day :) Question about Vestibular Hyperacusis

Hi all

I'll be talking to my doctor about exploring the possibility of me having Vestibular Hyperacusis tomorrow afternoon.

In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone here has it, what their symptoms are/have been, and how it has been dealt with medically? Any and all information will be much appreciated <3

G'day to you too mummymunt.

Is the hyperacusis new, and do you have any known medical condition that has caused this do you think?

Vestibular Hyperacusis can be associated with quite a number of different conditions.
(I know for sure there are many on the Traumatic Brain Injury & Post Concussion Syndrome Forum ).

You could try a forum-wide search for vestibular hyperacusis using the

This is an excellent website discussing many different types of vestibular disorders. It may be helpful for you if you've not found it before.

Hey No, the symptoms have been happening on and off for a few years now. I had attributed them to something else, but it finally twigged for me a couple of days ago, at the start of this most recent 'episode', that that clearly wasn't the case.

I took a little time to REALLY notice what was going on with me, and then searched up on it, which led me to Vestibular Hyperacusis. I have and/or had several of the possible causative factors including Meniere's Disease (I've been in remission from that for a long time), Bell's Palsy, chronic ear infections, depression, anxiety, tinnitus, ear irrigation, etc. I'm not declaring I have it, but from what I've read so far it looks like it's a distinct possibility.

The progression seems to have sped up quite a bit recently, and now that I have an idea what's causing it I can actually do something about it
