Default carpal tunnel issues.

Does anyone know of non-surgical ways to alleviate carpal tunnel syndrome.

I am at a loss of ideas.

Hello, welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

there is a forum here for Repetitive Strain Injury. You'll find a lot of posts there from past years. Maybe use the Forum Search Feature to look for 'stretching" or "carpal tunnel" just for example.

I had an injury with cubital tunnel / ulnar nerve years ago and found the stretching exercises very helpful indeed. At first the doctor had me wearing this huge long contraption of a brace to stop me bending my elbow but it was impossible to sleep and it really didn't help me.

Also think about ergonomics and the type of work you may do. There will be workarounds to change the way you hold your hand/wrist/arm etc. when doing activities .

Here's the link to RSI
https://www.neurotalk.org/repetitive-strain-injury/

It's a subforum of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome where you could search also.

take care, hoping it settles soon,

Default Carpal Tunnel Surgery

Hello. New member here.

I saw the post about non-surgical carpal tunnel surgery and want to add my 2 cents worth.

Carpal tunnel surgery is quick, relatively painless and fixes the problem that day. The only reason to avoid it I can think of is no medical insurance at all.

My right wrist went bad first about 2 years after getting my first welding job. Holding the stinger 8-10 hours a day did it. I was around 28. It is a 2-3" incision and I had a nice paid medical leave vacation!

My left wrist went bad while was driving a grease jeep 1500 feet underground in a mine. I drove a truck with drums of lubricants and squeezed a nozzle thing all day. Another paid vacation!

I am in my mid-70's now. I have small, thin scars on both hands, no problems with hands and no more nerve pain. I remember both surgeries being done with local anesthetics.

If only my destroyed lower back could be fixed so easily.
