Hi folks,
I'm a 53 yo woman and developed tingling in both feet Nov 2008, now have more symptoms like burning in palms, tightness of tendons in hands and right foot, lack of sensation in skin and joints, particularly in lower legs. This goes with a raft of other symptoms which come and go, but with these I'm doing quite well on m-b12 sublinguals and supplements. It's the feet/leg and hand symptoms I'm finding hard to manage - regular stretching seems to help, but I'd be grateful for tips since I'm making it up as I go along. BTW I'm waiting for MRI results and something called 'Evoke Potentials'. My GP thinks the problem is some sort of neuropathy but can't say what the cause might be. My hunch is that it's all down to very long established b12 deficiency, which as I say, I'm trying to address. This is my first post here - I've read some threads over the last few months and thought I'd say hello. jan |

Jan,
Welcome to the site. ![]() I am sure that others here will have good tips for you. I stretch my muscles at least three times per day and that seems to work for me. -Vic |

Hello Jan, and welcome to NeuroTalk from me as well.
I'm sorry to hear about the problems that you're having with your tendons. Have you tried physiotherapy? My suggestion would be to consult a sport's physiotherapist, as they're the ones who have to deal with torn and strained tendons from the many sports injuries every week. That's just a suggestion Jan, but something you could maybe discuss with your doctor. I can definitely relate to the burning though, as I get that intermittently as an annoying symptom of my own neurological illness. We do have a forum here for those with Peripheral neuropathy and here's the link to that in case you haven't found it yet. Maybe you could post your concerns there and see if one of out members with similar issues can help you out. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html ![]()

Jan,
My stretches are simple, and I repeat them often every day. This is what I do: 1) sit on the ground with my legs out in front of me and grab by toes, and pull them toward my chest for 30 seconds. This stretches the calf muscle. Repeat three times before getting up. 2) laying on your side, grab your foot and slowly pull it toward your back (like you are trying to put your own foot on your back). Go as far as you can and hold it for 30 seconds. Do that three times and then switch to the other leg. This streches the quad. 3) while sitting in a chair or on the ground, turn your torso as far as you can in on direction without moving your lower body. You will feel resistence in your side (oblique muscles). Go as far as you can and hold it for 30 seconds. Then turn the other way and stretch your other side the same way. Those are the main 3 that I do. I hope this helps. -Vic |

Thanks very much, Vic, I'll try those stretches.
Thanks also Koala77 for the PN link, I'll definitely post there. I have a physio but she's understandably reluctant to do much until the scan results come through.. whereas I want to start doing things now! jan |
