I am a 44 year old female with post-op 27 years ago cervical fusing of C-5-6 thru the back. MVA--I had a pinched nerve effecting my right arm and the fracture was at the tranverse process of C6. Post surgery arm strength returned with some dullness in thumb and fore finger. Today I'm experiencing right arm always cold to touch. left fingers are tingling and sometimes cold. The most disturbing thing is tremors of both hands and arms. sometimes I fell like my head is bobbling also. Could this be coming from my neck? if so what is the likehood that I will need surgery again? I have an appt to see primary care MD at the end of the month. Concerned if this is an urgent problem?

You might like to visit our Thoracic Outlet forum {TOS}-
it can be caused by MVA, desk/phone/paperwork, overhead or repetitive work, and there's many other causes also. Posture - head forward/shoulders rolled or hunched forward? -that closes the area where the blood flow and nerves travel down to the arm & hand. Here's the useful sticky thread post # 1 has many links to medical sites that explain TOS. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread84.html

Jo*mar and bobber are very helpful. I agree you shouldn't do things right now that cause you more problems. I know that's easier said than done. there's just so many things you need to do. I understand.
![]() Well, I found myself without answers or solutions for a long time. It is very important to find a health care provider that truly understands your whole body and you fully understand and know if it's neck or TOS, scalenes, pec major/minor before you have surgery. A second opinion is necessary too. There are many things to try nowadays. Injections (epidurals X3 helped my neck tremendously, and also helped my low back-doc said it was an overflow, wouldn't last... but it has, or gave me a little relief so I could get several steps up on the recovery ladder), PT/OT, nautropathic, chiro, D.O., pain management, LED and infrared lights, voga, pilates, stretches, aqua therapy, relaxation techniques, Kinesio tape, hot packs/cold packs - alternate, vitamins, supplements, Rxs, Lidoderm 5% helped me get through a lot of things I was determined to do. so many things you'll find here if you're able to do some research. good nutrition, water. and a list of no-nos too. no caffeine, no smoking... boy, this is not going to be popular. I found out so many helpful things here. "Palms up." I read so many stories that I too can identify with. At least I'm not alone or losing my mind. Knowledge and understanding is empowering. We lean on each other here. ![]()
