mine is non-existent. i can walk a little but not if carrying on a conversation. i can listen or read but not both. sometimes even listenng is exhausting. sometimes so bad i seek to withdraw like some say autistics do - to escape overstimulation.
the greater the stimulation the lower the function. what about you??

I gave up on the idea that multi tasking is super! I believe it causes neurotransmission overload... ![]() why do we want to multitask beyond what the autonomic system function does? and normal behavior of a slower not as silly looking I saw a man jogging down the street talking on an ear cell phone, pushing a runners baby carriage... my thought was - what disease is he going to end up with, besides a nervous break down.????? article: http://www.breathingspace.com/content/view/577/192/

Multi-tasking was my thing before PD! Now I'm right there with former Pres. Ford: I can't chew gum and walk down the stairs at the same time, in fact I almost can't chew gum and breath at the same time, for chrissake!
![]() I find it pretty scary though, people start losing respect when they think you're just some scatterbrained nincompoop (love this word, it's so Monty-Python). Teresa |

Multi-tasking? Definitely more of a challenge now.
(And nice to see a Monty Python reference!) Wait, what was I doing? Oh yeah...um, no...wait...typing and...and...damn! Todd PDTalks.com

A very apt choice of words - "nincompoop" is a corruption of "non compos mentis" - I don't know the exact translation from the latin, but the dictionary says "Not mentally competent to manage one's own affairs." Definitely the way I feel sometimes. Instead of "multi-tasking", how about, "multi-taxing"?

I go through periods of being very able to do things, and then, bang, I am almost helpless. For example, last eek, I went 3 days without any sinemet, I took my other drugs , Mirapex, & trihexyphenidyl. So I was certainly off. However, I took the dog a walk together with my wife, I could dress, shower, wash the car, However, for no reason I could see, I switched into my helpless phase. This morning I had a heck of a job to even get out of bed.
The only clue I have is a good phase seems to follow a sustained period on full medication, as though I can store dopamine or levodopa. Anyone else have these phases? Ron PS They say Mirapex makes you a compulsive gambler. Great, I have won $300 this week!!! |
