i check this site periodically for updates. can't vouch for how good a mds he is but he certainly has interesting opinions, especially on the superiority of brand name mirapex xl and requp xl, much less side affects than generic. unfortunately they aren't cheap.

What nutritional supplements do I recommend? CoQ10 (1200 mg/day), NADH (20 mg/day), Vitamin D3, creatine and selenium as well as B vitamins and folic acid.

i'd take that with a grain of salt, coq10 at 1200mg was initially thought to slow progression but subsequent trial with 2400mg showed no benefit. creatine also doesn't slow progression but might have other benefits.

it's not about slowing progression. COq10, Ubiquinol, Nadh, Creatine power up your mitocondria and give you energy to fight fatigue and power through your day. |

The doctor on the website you posted above recommends that. I stand by my statement above. |

Just lost a posting I wrote re your drug regime. Anyway wanted to let you know how excited I am to read that you take NADH. My son does post doc research on NAD which I assume to be connected to NADH and he has me taking that each day and that he and his colleagues are being shown very promising results with mice! Am not particularly computer literate hence my certainty that they're the same or similar but think the 2 are linked. I think though can't prove after taking the supplement for approx. 8 months now that Im a little better and having been to GP this morning for FBC results I can say my glucose and liver function tests which were a little on the dodgy side a yr ago are now within normal limits etc. Soccertese thanks for the link to Dr Fazzini he seems very knowledgeable re PD. |

Yes, NAD is the oxidised form of NADH.
NAD and NADH are essential for all human cells - they play a key role in production of ATP, which is the "energy currency" that all cells need. From a biochemical perspective, I can't think of circumstances in which somebody could be deficient in NAD but not in NADH.

I've taken NADH before with no noticeable result. Now I am taking nicotinamide riboside (NiaCel) to increase NAD+. We'll see.
I take 600 mg of NAC in Life Extension Mix, and take a lot of L-Cysteine as part of the Hinz protocol to increase glutathione. I have even taken acetyl-glutathione, the orally active form. I can't say any of this has cured me.

It's taken me a while to think it may be beneficial. Insomnia was bad at first when I commenced it and has been reported in others taking NAD aka nicotinamide riboside and so I take 750mg in the morning and over the last few months have found my sleep improved. |
