Hi
When nerves (namely Sensority ones) are regenerating/regrowing do pain follow some kind of pattern? Like for instances, first you feel burning sensation, then electric shocks, then pins sensations and then itchi, and so on? Thank you, Filipe |

From my own experience, and from what I have read...healing nerves feel much the same as dying nerves. It's like they do the same thing in reverse. The pain, buzzing, pins and needles sensations, just do not last as long.

Filipe, how old are you and what do you do for a living? Do you mind telling us? Do you have a job that reinjures your shoulder?
Are you over 40, when some aging may be present to slow your recovery? There is no evidence from you at this time that you need to regenerate nerves. Until you have a test showing loss, it is all speculation on your part, and the answers here will reflect that speculation. Nerves signal pain... that is their job. It is possible, your injury is just that...pain signals. You may be feeling pain, because you have damaged some tendons, or have muscle strains, both of which take time to heal. With no evidence of diabetes, or toxins, or other metabolic problems, viral infection, your nerves may not need to regenerate. Your triggers were physical...you did not just wake up one day in pain for no reason. So it is logical you have some injury that is sending pain signals as part of its presence.

I am 36. And I'm a teacher. I'm not working right now. Let me just ask something. Today, I'm feeling very strange... instead of bruning sensations, I have a lot of cold.... So odd... Is this normal? I don't know if it is my mind playing tricks on me.... I have a LEPs exam schedule . Have you ever did this exam? I'm afraid is painful. That is why I'm postponing it....

No, I have not had that. I had EMGs long ago on my arms though when I had carpal tunnel severely.
My early PN was from low thyroid functions. I now have some in my feet (30 yrs later) due to insulin resistance and some arthritis. But it is not progressive, and not severe. I don't know about the test you are planning to have. Perhaps someone else here can help you with that.

Dear friend,
I'm feeling very bad. Everytime I think I'm getting better something happeneds, and today I felt a cold sensation over my whole body. It seemed like I was in the fridge. I took an anxiety pill (diasepan) and the pain (or the sensation I described stoped). Is this normal? My problem is that since I don't have a burning feet nobody believes me. It is so stupid, because I'm trying to convince Drs of something I don't want to feel. Does this make any sense!!! |

I noticed that the sensation stopped when you took diazepam. How much of this are you using? How long have you used diazepam?
There is a phenomenon called tolerance withdrawal and also, one called interdose withdrawal. Benzodiazepines cause physical dependence, even if you have no anxiety, they can cause severe symptoms, regardless of your PN. Oh, my feet and hands get very cold too. Coldness is not uncommon with neuropathy. |

Laser evoked brain potentials are a type of nerve test.
