Bravo Rae? For keeping at it...

NO offense to others who watch Fox-the 'fair and balanced' approach to news? But did you watch Palin's premiere! It was 'cute' at best. Honestly I used to like Oreilley when he first came out on 'another channel' and subsequently dropped... I liked is adroit use of 'vocabulary' which many lack these days.. Ditto w/Beck Same reasons then and now. Somehow their perspectives got warped out of balance and seem almost reasonable but 'upside down'. Mods? YOu can delete this w/my blessings, but I just had to say it?
All said. The EARTH IS going thru a new and different 'cycle' and a good bit of it is likely man-made. Why else are we developing new and untreatable illnesses? In HUGE quantities? How quickly as HUMANS we can adapt and adopt new lifestyles that improve the future prosepects is a different issue tho. We are but a few, most don't think as we do, most only are living day-to day or for $'s day today and more. These conflict and won't help us in the long run unless forced to? and then it's too late for most of us.
OK IT's been spittin' stupid cold of late. Rite now where I am? We are having a 'thaw' And, not soon enuf! I totally expect more stupid spittin COLD and then some this winter! I wasn't able to get out much this summer or fall? But the geese flew south early this winter, and usually some are flying north here about now? They aren't yet. That is telling.
Snuggle up and keep warm as needed one and all! - j

you know i have always wondered about that color thing ever since i was very young. is the green im seeing the same as what others are seeing? with all the variations on everything else including on how differently everything affects us, i would say chances are pretty good that we do not all see exactly the same color and im not talking about people who are colorblind.
People who are colorblind do not see red or green. My dad says you stop when the top light is lit up, you go when the bottom is lit. My dad is colorblind, as are 3 of my 4 sons. They also can not distinguish brown from green or red, not gold. My son told me once, the black and white tv in their bedroom was in color, just like the colored tv in the living room! My nephew used to say, the sky is green and the grass is blue...he too is colorblind.

If we were all alike, it would be a very boring world. Our differences is what makes the world go round.

By the way, our geese do not leave..not the majority anyways. They love being by the bay..I'm sure they were very happy today.

According to the perceptual psychologists--

--there really is no such thing as "color" anyway, just different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation that we interpret as different colors. but since this interpretation is perceptual, it's certainly prone to individual differences, so I suspect that we don't all see the same colors, even if we do not have hereditary color blindness.

Cross-culturally there seems to be some difference too--New Guinea tribespeople have a lot of distinctions for what for most of us in the West would be closely related greens--they insist these are completely different colors.

As for me, I think any color name with more than two syllables is not really a color--it's a variation of a basic one or two syllable color created by fashion people, and is indicative of a defective personality. :p

Well, I would not name a color, peuce.

New Guineans, hmm, and green. Not to different than Inuit and white.....22 names for snow. Interesting anthropological concept.

Oh, and a lot of the Fox-faire folks have shown their true colors in this Haiti crisis. The American army is 'Meals on Wheels'? Oh, sorry that was Rush, and he isn't on Fox. Pat Robertson and his pact with the devil??? Maybe it is me, but, I can't see that angle on this tragedy. I see desperate people in need of help.

My only glimpse of Fox is via Keith Olberman, lol. I don't even know what channel it is. Hubby subjects me to conservative talk radio on the way to my infusion appointments, and my blood pressure is always sky high when I get there, lol. He likes the stimulation of listening to divergent opinions. He is totally laid back.

These are simply MY views, and most people don't give a rip about my political sensitivities. I don't expect any one to care, nor do I care if they care. I just don't think I am that important. I am one of 6 billion.

My social structure now, is generally all likeminded, so, I don't endure much irritation. My system can't take any irritation over politics. I let my kids do that battle now. They are well placed in that one writes environmental policy, another enforces it.

To each his own. That is how our nation was set up. I am not out to convince any one of anything. I look at who conducts studies and draw my conclusions based on the unbiased studies of scientific organizations.

Today our newspaper announced the FDA has totally reversed its stance on BPA saying it is dangerous. Now that we all put sealants on our kids teeth! The FDA had originally accepted studies funded by chemical companies, and pushed by their lobbiests. Now that they have new research, the truth is evident.

One has to look at who is doing what research.

Anyway, as I said, we are set up to accomodate diverse opinions. I, for one, believe in global warming, or at least, human induced climate change. It is simply that, my opinion. Just like others choose to believe it is a myth. Some people believe in evolution, others not. You can't debate basic beliefs like that. It is not worth losing other commonalites over basic beliefs that can not be changed.

It is a different reference point, just like color....I see red, others may see green.

Or, perhaps the parable of 6 blind men and an elephant is a useful analogy.

The interesting point here too, on Haiti, there are both very faith centered people and very liberal bleeding heart types, trying very hard to help these people. It takes all kinds.

One of my absolute dearest friends is a carpenter, who is a creationist. He even looks like Jesus. We share a lot of beliefs on humanity, economy etc. He really lives his faith, not like some televangelist just making money. I have never seen any one live his faith as well as this man and his wife. He is more 'green' than I am and his 'needs' are simple, far more simple than mine. I could not live that simply. That is what I admire about him. It is amazing the commonalities that all people have.

We can focus on commonalites rather than differences to promote peace.

I, for one, am not afraid of what this president will do. He seems an honorable man in a very tough situation, which was created for him, long before he took office. He is trying to do the most good for the most people. We live in trying times.

Unless we all learn to work together for a better world for all, we won't stand a chance.

OH my! At least there is humor in the WOODS!

I for one, cannot wait for the 'Keithies' awards on 'MSNBC'! Likely in the next month, I'm guessing....
His 'stupid things' and 'worst persons' segments are a hoot! And all this fully researched from a former Sports Reporter! His diatribes on health care have been touching as his dad is dying. And It's all been on TARGET from all I know about the health administration world working there and now a 'beneficiary'.
Back to basics tho? We all are human, we all have opinions and we all care about each other!
Can we all get back to the issue of COLD? It's almost 'tropical' here as it got above 50f Here today! HOORRaAAY! :Dancing-Chilli: - need I say more? However where I am? We're gonna get over an inch of rain on hard frozen ground! Should be interesting, no doubt. May we all not turn BLUE nor RED from too much or too little!'s - j

So true about color! I have always wondered How anyone can actually know what the other thinks a color is. They say dogs don't see color, and I wonder how they truly can know that...maybe dogs just choose to not react to certain things the way we do. As a rule though, I think we do mostly all see colors close to the same, accept for those who are colorblind.

I was warm enough to go to see Avatar. I had to wait until all the kids in the county saw it and the theaters were more empty.....

I took my hot hands thingies with me.

I want one of them thar flying pets...the red one was too high octane for me...I would like a green one. Keep in mind a few years ago, I wanted a waterhorse.

It was good to get away from news coverage. Starting to get very ornery.

cyclelops 01-16-2010 08:19 PM

Gee, I dunno, I like him.....I can't imagine he doesn't have every one's best interest in mind. He has two adorable little girls....seems like a nice dad.

Yeah, health care for ALL could be a real bummer.

*edit*
Govt ran health care is a very scary to me. Yes the insurance companies are out of control, and this health care plan is only making what's out there worse...they want to get what they can while they can, and we are the ones getting hurt by it all. If govt ran health care is such a wonderful thing, why do other countries come here when they need medical care...because they can't get it in their own countries. This goes into effect, and we will have even fewer good doctors to choose from, and they will not accept insurance...then what will we do? This will put the small offices out of business. Do we really all want to be on medicaid, cause thats what it will become? How about this business of throwing us in jail if we can't pay?

Look at the Cash for Junkers program..did it work? NO! Many dealers went out of busienss because they never got paid. Sure, people got new cars, but how many actually bought American made cars, which should of been a requirement for this program, and yes, American made cars are just as good as foreign cars. Yes, I drive American, always have. This program should of supported our country.

Bailing out the banks, and all we did was give them vacations and huge bonuses. Nothing is thought out, nothing is truly debated. We should be allowed to vote on what we want, not told what we are getting.

I find it all very destressing.
