At least it wasn't Sound of Music!! "The hills are alive......" or Do a deer, a female deer, Ray a golden drop of sun....Mi a name I call myself....":sing:

Sorry about the Aqualung thing....you just reminded me of when I went to Jethro Tull live....gosh, that was another life time ago, before I started spitting up my lungs too. Ah the golden years....am I there yet?

Aqualung is rather appropriate for me lately....dry coughing up a storm (For a while I thought it was quitting the narcotic pain reliever, but it has been 4 months...no such luck, it is getting worse, and I have lung scarring from years ago, so who knows? Trying to avoid glowing in the dark from another CT.)

...so.... hubby decided to smell good for work this morning and used Old Spice body spray...dam near killed me.:Crazy 2: I hacked extra enthusiastically because I hate that junk anyway....stinks. He likes it.:deadhorsebeat: We have agreed to disagree, but I won't take it lying down.:Poke: Anyway he was unimpressed with my gasping, hacking and other sound effects.

Lately I have to use a mask to use even 'green' cleaning products....oh and here is the epitome of stupidity. I am planning a small redo of my kitchen, (not the stupid part-not yet anyway, but the small redo is getting bigger which is quintessentially dumb) since my kids got me a dishwaher, and it will require some cabinet and potentially a lay out change, now is the time to do what we want....sort of. It is hard to remodel when home values are still dropping, much wringing of hands....let's do this, no let's not. You get the picture??

Anyway, in my usual way of approaching things as fun, I am having a blast with this, since my one daughter's BF is an architect....one of those 'green' ones. He has helped me with planning and I love a lot of what he planned for me. I love his houses too, but we can't afford to build...because no one is buying houses around here, so we are all frozen in place basically, in more ways than one. But if I could sell mine and find land for less than a small fortune, I would build one of his designs in a heart beat. We have 2 acres zoned Ag, in an area where is it very hard to get small tracts like this. Plus I am in a State Park border area, no more development. Most land here is sold off in 35 acre hunks due to Farmland Preservation and most small tracts are taken. So I am stuck in a dated trilevel....which I have to learn to love, because I love having the land, of which we 'garden' an acre. My dogs rule the other acre, so you have to watch where you walk.

So, here is the stupid part, I decided to purge, condense and organize..... Yesterday, I decided to grind up all the jalepenos :Dancing-Chilli: I dried last fall....the nice organic ones I grew in my 'garden' (small farm). I wore a mask, but the house had pepper dust floating in it for an hour. I am my own worst enemy some days. Cough, cough. Cleaned out my sinuses very well.

It is fine now. Cough, cough. My dogs were more concerned with me than hubby. It's fine, he is really a dear man, and has learned to glean entertainment value from my 'activities'. I can't blame him. Now and then he gets to effect a rescue...plus, he washes MY clothes now....ok, well, I still need to clean the toilets, after all, he is a guy...somethings don't change and that is OK.

Dear Dear Cycleops

What you have so 'colourfully' described of your recent bout of uncontrollable inhalant/nasal outburst is what we backwoods intellects refer to as : LOOGEYBOOGERS

Hope it all goes well for you Sue! Here is wishing you the best.

JoanB 01-12-2010 10:03 AM

Sending you good thoughts and great wishes Sue!

Why oh why, cycleclops, do some men just not understand that women HATE OLD SPICE? (assuming that they might care a little if women find them unpleasant, and there is about zero chance that a gay man would EVER wear Old Spice, so that is never the issue)

Oh, and good news--the Carole King ear worm went away more quickly than usual. I had rehearsal with my mandolin orchestra last night so the last piece we practiced is the one that's stuck in there now. Not better or worse, but at least not your fault.

I am not even that averse to Old Spice cologne in the liquid form....what bugs me is having to breathe it for 10 minutes! He seems attached to aerosal spray lately. Funny, when he was younger, he didn't give a rip....gee, maybe I should check his cell phone records, lol.

:holysheep:

JoanB, no Julie Andrews ear worm?? Do a deer, a female deer, Rae a golden drop of sun, Mi a name I call myself, Fa a long long way to run, So a needle pulling thread, La the note that follows So, Ti a drink with jam and bread.....that will bring us back to Do.....hum, hum, hum.

I gotta go look at kitchen pictures and get more and more confused over what I want.....and can't afford.

I use Old Spice regularly and my wife never tells me she doesn't like it.
Old Spice is an affordable after shave.
Maybe its an 'Old(er) Man' thing
(I'm 65, & I remember my Dad used it daily).
When I go out, or for nicer occasions, I usually use
my favorite - 'Stetson' and my family gives it to me for Xmas,
regularly-every year, so I guess they don't mind that smell,
or they'd give me something other.

cyclelops 01-12-2010 12:50 PM

I agree Bob, and it is likely an older guy thing...hubby is 59, so he qualifies. As I said, I don't mind the smell, but the body spray does not smell like Old Spice. Old Spice itself smells just fine. The body spray has the effect of pepper spray on me, and I don't think that is what hubby is going for. It is fine after the initial blast is gone.

I always wonder about ladies that spray hair spray all over....that HAS to gum up the alveoli?

LOL, remember English Leather??

Kitt 01-12-2010 02:12 PM

I hate Old Spice in any way, shape or form. My first boyfriend used it and I hated it. It smelled like Owl S*** as he used to say. But, that's probably about all that was around at that time. My 2 cents:OuttaHere:

DanP 01-12-2010 03:31 PM

Give Brut a try. It smells pretty good and it's cheap enough. My wife's 'smeller' is super sensitive but she tolerates Brut quite well. She can't stand Old Spice or 99.9% of anything else....poor thing. But, this saves me a fortune in perfumes because she can't stand any of 'em.
