Default Hair colouring

Hi Guys,

Happy New Year to everyone. I havent posted for a while but I'm still around and doing well most of the time. I have a question regarding this odd thing that has happened to me twice now when I was dying my hair. I only use the stuff that washes out in 8 shampoos, no ammonia. I have read that some people have allergic reactions to chemicals in dye, but I did not show any signs of allergic reaction. I always get foils (which don't actually touch skin), but decided to try this rinse out hair dye and for the second time while using it I had a severe flair of nerve pain while dye was still on my hair. I did not have any signs of allergy,no redness or swelling. The pain was about an 8 and couldn't stop it. It started up after about 15 minutes of dye being on my hair. The pain was widespread but mostly concentrated to the head area.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could have happened?

Is there any hair colour that is actually safe to use?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,
Aussie

I don't trust hair color and will never use it.

I remember way back when I had a reaction to Revlon Flex shampoo. After that, I am very careful what I use on my head.

Here are some eye openers!

I have issues with it seems, nearly everything, and I color my hair every 6 weeks or so, without issue. I use Garnier Nurtisse...same color all the time.

One time I had a reaction to it. I wasn't thinking, and dyed my hair, while waiting for it, I took a fast walk on my Gazelle. I must have breathed in too much of the chemicals cause I got sick to my stomach, never happened again.

That's some article Mrs. D.

How much toxic stuff do they put in cosmetics!!! I think that the chemicals in the dye may have irritated the nerves in my head. that's the only thing I can think may have happened. Not so much an allergy, but more the harshness of the chemicals on my scalp set off the nerves.

I went to buy some shampoo without chemicals (cost $20), because its didn't have chemicals. It's ironic that it costs so much to not have toxins in your shampoo.

I think next time I will stick with my foils. Foils only touch the dead hair, no skin. Not the best solution but the better of the 2.

Thank you!

I can't remember if you are chemically sensetive Deb. I seem to be. Not as much as I use to be before taking Vitamin E, but I was. I ususally always go to salon to do my hair but because of school holidays and so forth I have been busy and had to do it myself. Not a good choice. But I will take a gander at the Garnier. But I have a feeling that most of the OTC dyes contain the same stuff.

Thank you,
Cheers,
Aussie

Many may contain the same stuff, but this one doesn't contain gluten, and that is very important for me, and yes, I do have chemical sensitivities. I just can't give this one up, I like my hair ungrayed!!!!

I get my hair dyed about once every three to four months. Every time, I get a flare the following day. I always assumed it was fibromyalgia.

I don't know but i always had PN much worse in my head/face. That's where it presented first and crawled down the body from the head. So I guess maybe those nerves are more sensetive to chemicals.

Very possible. For a time, I had a terrible time with chemicals. At work, my boss had these Glade Vanilla Plug-ins, and I had to ask him please to not use them...I would get so sick. The office across the hall has this orange scents industrial strength room deodorizer that you only need to spray for a second, it's so strong. To this day, I have issues with it. They gave one of our office people a can to try, and I could feel it hit my lungs, and it became very difficult to breathe. She was told not to use, and did once again anyways. After that, I searched the office until I found the can, and she WILL never use it again! I can't burn several varieties of candles..Yankee Candles are too heavily scented and I can't breathe, and I love candles.

At this time of year, the carpets get so bad at work, and the doctor tries to treat them himself. He sprinkled Carpet Fresh, and sprayed one of those foaming cleaners on the floor, the two chemicals together, gave me a sinus infection...was terrible. Every week when she vaccumed, I would react...now he doesn't use Carpet Fresh either, and when he sprays the foam, I leave before hand.

One time, my daughter and I drove pass a carnival with rides, all I could smell was the diesel fuel for the rides, all she could smell was the popcorn, and I could not smell the popcorn. The scent of the fuel made me sick to my stomach....I think I have gotten better since then though.

I just purchased a new Bath & Body Works scent, it's beautiful..Midnight Jasmine, but I react to it, so I had to return it and exchange for one of my old standbys.

Thankfully, my hair dye doesn't bother me...if it did, I would be so gray by now.

We had a toilet scented thing put in the toilet bowl at work. The bathroom is very small. It's for both male/female use. The toliet scent overpowered the tiny room and each time I went in I had to hold my breath it made me sick. So I kept on flushing or throwing it away. One day they taped it to the bowl (the whole contraption, plastic included. then I untaped it and threw it away. We were then questioned by the office manager as to what we may think is happening with the toilet scents. I confessed it was me throwing it away.
