I am curious as to the bolded statement in this post.
Potassium is present in very small amounts in supplements. The FDA does not allow a potassium supplement beyond 99mg.
Some natural foods have whopping potassium levels in them.
The amount of potassium we require daily is 4.5 grams --that is 4500mg. If you are on a drug with a potassium restriction, that would be ACE inhibitors. Some forms of kidney disease, also have potassium restrictions. But the general public is basically low in potassium intake and it can be a serious health problem. The daily intake suggestions have been RAISED recently from 3.5grams a day to 4.5. It has been estimated that we evolved as humans consuming up to 7.5grams a day! Vitamin C is an important antioxidant for supporting the joints and ligaments, as well as for quenching free radicals. Vit C has shown promise in preventing the sympathetic neuropathy called RSD which can occur after an injury or surgery. If regular Vit C bothers you, the Ester form is easy to take. We cannot live without Vitamin C, so I am concerned as to why you need to limit this. Some patients with the genetic disease hemochromatosis are advised to limit Vit C so as to absorb less iron from foods. That is the only restriction I can recall at the moment.
