The CoQ-10 from epic4health is one of the best forms.
I don't know what GNC is selling. Read your label, and call them up and see if Tischon is their supplier. Tischcon has a patent for this. from http://www.epic4health.com/noname.html Quote:
When looking at synthesis in the liver, logic would suggest that perhaps 6mos to a year might reverse the loss of endogenous synthesis that was suppressed by the statin drug. But what about the mitochondria at the nerve level? We don't have any way to measure that damage yet. There are tissue biopsies used to diagnose genetic mitochondrial failure, and I think they count the mitochondria seen in microscope slides of the muscle tissue. From what I understand, these biopsies have to be done a special way, preserved carefully, etc so no false positives result. CoQ-10 is not a toxic substance to the body, as we make it ourselves under ideal conditions. The really only obivous way to know is by how you feel. If you get much better, then try going off and see if you fall back. Try to only change one thing at a time, so you can more clearly gauge if it is the reason. There are medical studies on the heart at PubMed. Like this one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20586147 Use keyword search "CoQ-10 heart" and there are 571 entries there.

I just started taking CoQ10 recently, because I think my PN is caused by long-term Mitochondrial Dysfunction. In the past my PN has got worse when my MD has been worse than usual.
The CoQ10 didn't seem to do much at first, probably because I usually eat several small meals through the day, and CoQ10 is best absorbed with food. It seems to work better after a full meal. Now I've found out there may be a kind of CoQ10 that is better absorbed: Ubiquinol. Do we know if it's much better than Ubiquinone? I've been taking 200-300mg per day but may increase it since it's a pretty safe supplement. I read that PQQ is more effective with CoQ10. I also read that old age can do worse damage to the mitochondria than statins. If so, our seniors may want to consider increasing their dosage. I am reading a decent book on CoQ10 by a doctor, although it is dated (1990s). A comment about periodontal issues was interesting. I think my gums look a little more pink and healthier than usual. If I ever manage to sort out my PN, I'm going to be pretty healthy! My BP is already down to 109/70 with a resting HR in the 60s. |

What is an effective dose of ubiquinol and what is a safe maximum dose of ubiquinol? The above link lists 30-200 for CoQ-10. Also, should it be taken with fatty food, as opposed to any food? Thanks. ![]() |

P.S. Synthesis of CoQ10 is inhibited by environmental toxins and chronic disease, so you may want to get toxin tests first, too. |

Do you think that taking CoQ10 can help me? Specifically for Cipro induced PN?
I have Ciprofloxacin induced peripheral neuropathy. It is definitely improving and I already take a number of vitamins that I know have helped me quite a lot. Daily: These are Omega 3mg, B12 500mcg, B1 300, Slowmag-magnesium 143mg, Lycopene 10mg, Vitamin C 200mg, and just recently Alpha Lipoic Acid 300mg twice per day. I saw a reasonably priced GNC brand of CoQ10 and that's what spurred my consideration. Could I even take CoQ10 with the rest of my vitamins? Will it cause an interaction with them? Is Coq10 recommended for Cipro-neuropathy? I already take a lot of vitamins and the only 2 vitamins I am considering taking in the coming months are Coq10 and L-carnatine, the last I know little about. Any advice on this would be much appreciated. ![]() |

My Neurologist told me to take only B6, 100mg.
But my orthopedic doc, who found the lyme disease, said he had tingling in his feet and told me I need all the B's - to take B complex and the QT10 stuff. He says he will be taking that Q10 for the rest of his life. |
