I ask because thyroids often work less well in post menop. folks.
My own went on one rollicking rampage when it went out! Next appt. INSIST that the auto-immune tsh & free T3 & T4 #'s be checked... Treatments are inexpensive synthetic thyroid tabs. And while it mite take a while to get your Thyroid #'s back in balance? IT IS WORTH IT! Wonky #'s and 'being down' or depressed comes with bad thyroid #'s... Along with sluglike and just wanting to do 'nothing'. Some GP's are good at this stuff? Others simply don't deal with it! So, if you've the latter and have the insurance? Go see an endocrinologist! If you can. Good ones are hard to find, super decent ones are even harder! What I did, was ask 5 of my dozen docs as I saw them for regular appts., and a couple of 'names' popped up. So I went, and got! As one doc of mine says? "That's one more off the 'list'"! It's not a 'quick fix'? But, it IS a fix. Go for it, what have you got to lose, but your mind? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Try reading this? This is just an 'intro'! http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hypothyroidism/DS00353 |
