Dr. Sears has several books out. He started with the Zone diet, which is basically a control for insulin and hence it reduces inflammation as well. Dr. Sears is a biochemist, not a medical doctor and his books have considerable chemistry in them.
http://www.zonediet.com/home There are several books now, which basically have similar things in them. I think he is the most moderate and useful of the long term diet suggestions. Your library may have some of his books. I am sure Amazon has some affordable on its "used" list. The first book was Enter the Zone, which a friend gave me over 10 yrs ago now!

I have small fibre neuropathy which is worsened by some foods, wheat, and some medications, e.g. Lamictol. My usual med is Lyrica 100 + 100 at supper, but I discovered by chance that Benadryl is a pretty good if the pain is keeping me awake. Usually 25 mg is enough to take the edge off so I can get to sleep, but occasionally I need 50mg. Drawback is that it may leave you a bit groggy in the morning.
