I was prescribed this for artheritus but it also stopped my nerve pain cold! Now Im not building my hopes up yet for 2 reasons
1. side effects are horrid eg death by heart attack or a hole in the gut ![]() 2. it may just be a remission period for nerve pain and coincidental anyone have a clue as to why this drug may possibly work with nerve pain? |

NSAIDs may help ..and some people do find relief with aspirin too.
This suggests an inflammatory type of PN. NSAIDs and aspirin reduce Cox-2 cytokines which come with inflammation. Diclofenac is a lipophilic NSAID, and as such penetrates the brain. Ketorolac, and indomethacin also cross the blood brain barrier. All of these also tend to be more toxic over time.

actually aspirin is an antioxidant of sorts:
http://raypeat.com/articles/aging/as...n-cancer.shtml and http://ajpheart.physiology.org/content/294/4/H1562.full Aspirin also has been implicated as an anticancer molecule. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspirin I'd like to see some articles on aspirin being "oxidative". I couldn't find any just now. Aspirin is quite complicated... however. When first discovered no one had a clue about all the various actions of it! All of the NSAIDs have similar traits, with some being more toxic to the liver than others. All the NSAIDs have weaker effects on platelets than aspirin. And the NSAIDs have a higher potential for causing heart disease, than aspirin does.

Yes, I have read a lot about aspirin and talked to my doctors. Only about the baby aspriin daily which I don't take. I know a lot of docs tell people to take them. There are so many good things for blood thinning instead. The eye health articles concern me a lot. I am sure a lot of people do fine on it. I want to do all I can to keep my eyes healthy.

I will accept all the side effects of this drug. Along with Pn I have all sorts of problems with inflammation especially in the knees and a good example have been the last 2 weeks where its been to painful to walk far (not the PN) without pain from my knees which turns to frustration and then depression.
1x 50 mg of diclofenec and my burning stopped along with joint pain and the relief is immense :-) one thing though it makes me "high" like tramadol used to. I wonder if the body adapts to it ,reducing the effectiveness like lyrica etc? |

Toradol (Ketorolac) has a black box warning for only intermittent use. I believe it is 5 days at a time.
@zorro: The lipophilic NSAIDs cross the blood brain barrier to some extent, and may cause blurred vision, or tiredness/confusion. However, I've never heard of them causing a "high" like you describe.
