Thanks Mike and mrsD
I had a heart issue back in May 2010. I had been on statins for cholesterol and this was one of the first things looked at and removed. As far a the bridge comment, It was only to explain what an EMG test is.. The only missing was a rubber ball in my mouth, and the leather whip. |

For me, 45 was the year everything started running downhill, though I have had symptoms most of my life, they never interfered until then. I am 51 now, and lots of simple things are challenges. Did you notice any improvement after the statins were removed? For me it made a huge difference. |

I still, many years later, do not have numb legs or feet. The test can be very unpleasant for sure. In my case, I will never have another one as it is mostly for the benefit of the neurologist. An expert, as far as CMT goes, told my support group that another test is not necessary. I know I am worse now as far as CMT goes. And there are many, many types of CMT. Also, as far as CMT goes, they can tell if you have CMT1 or CMT2 the EMG/NCV test. CMT1 shows as slower than normal nerve conduction speed. CMT2 shows near normal nerve conduction speed or mildly slowed. To get the sub type you have to have DNA blood testing. This information is for a person who has CMT. Kitt Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) |
