Wink

The dizziness is better and only lasted 2 days. The throbbing neck and teeth are better and only sort of come on just before dinner.

I've started lysine again, because I think this is a shingles pain activation. (I had my original shingles, down my right neck and arm). The lysine is helping the most. I am wearing 1/3 patch of Lidoderm on my right neck at night.

This is not a flu, or cold, but perhaps some Epstein Barr reactivation or the Herpes Zoster I think. (or some odd sinusitis).

Tues and Weds last week were awful, but each day now I am a bit better. I am doing the ice packs at bit less each day. And last night I tried a 1/2 flexeril and that helps it appears. Sure seems like irritated nerves to me!

It is so cold here... we are on the 4th installment of below zero temps...not common for us at all.

A friend of my husband lives across the state, and says her family has this stiff neck and headache pain, etc also. They think it is a virus too. Both kids and adults have it, the same time as me. Hubby does not have it (yet).

Thank you for asking!

My mom deals with shingles, it's weird how it comes and goes with no rhyme or reason to what brings it on.

Don't you hate having to do ice when it is so cold out? Unless you keep your house warm, then it doesn't matter much, lol, but I don't keep mine real warm, so a cold fan blowing while it's below 8 degrees out just sucks more. While my feet like it colder my mental well being is sick and tired of this freezing weather that feels like it will never go away.

Sorry you have been so under the weather, hope you get full recovery ASAP!

I wrap up in a warm blanket before doing the ice... and I wrap the ice in a thin towel too.

It really felt "good" and didn't make me colder. We keep the house thermo at about 68... but our floors are frigid...over the garage and in the kitchen area where the slab is. The basement is small and has a boiler in it, and over those pipes are warm spots, usually occupied by a cat.

Ice in general helps my PN and arthritis quite a bit. I don't do heat anymore, except for stomach spasms and only then for 15 minutes or so.

Mrs.D,

I hope for your speedy and complete recovery.... You help a lot of us here, and still continue doing so.... Thank you very much.

The osteoarthritis in my fingers (8 of them) are really hurting. I do hot compress and it helps some. I cannot do cold compress, when I touch any cold object, even a slight contact with cold water, it gives very unpleasant sensations in my legs. Even a slight contact between 1 finger and cold water, the unpleasant sensations will IMMEDIATELY go down to my legs. The closest description is like having goose bumps only mine is painful and only in my legs. Its odd that only my legs feel the cold temp.

Mary, I have similar reactions, strange as it is. Mixing meatballs, or touching anything cold is excruciating, and I have to keep running my hands under warm water while doing it.
Mrs. D., I did find that applying cold to my back during a recent bout of sciatica as you often recommend really helped. I am so glad that you are feeling better.

Mrs. D.
I send all my best regards to you and hope for a recovery for you. And thanks for all the good advises always.
When I have had my occational flare ups of muscle spasm and swelling in neck and back from the herniated cervical discs, I also find that ice packs helps reduse the swelling. Sometimes I also have used the warm compress for muscle relaxing effect.
Today I am trying to find a post you once posted regarding Homocysteine.

Homocysteine when elevated will irritate the linings of the blood vessels. You can have this tested by a blood test...but some insurances will not pay for it.

It is typically treated with activated B6, methylcobalamin and methylfolate vitamins.

If it is really high and out of range, it can lead to blood clots or strokes/heart attacks.

Wink

I am holding at a low level of irritation. Didn't need the ice pack today and was not dizzy.

I am taking 1/2 flexeril at night. And that is helping.
