Default Tendon problems

I'm wondering if anyone else on here with PN experiences a lot of issues with their tendons.

Over the years, I've experienced tendinitis or tendinosis in a handful of tendons. I've mostly been able to attribute it to overuse, but this past January, I developed a problem in my left elbow which I think is distal bicep tendinitis. It happened in the middle of January when I wasn't active doing anything. Literally the only upper body exercise I'd gotten was shoveling the snow once. In other words, this was totally uncalled for and downright rude.

So now I'm wondering if my tendons getting hit isn't just another symptom of whatever is hitting my nerves.

In doing some reading, I know that metabolic issues (e.g. diabetes) can hit your tendons as well as your nerves, but I just can't reconcile that my blood sugar issues which don't even "officially" qualify me as a pre-diabetic are bad enough to cause this problem as well.

Has anybody else investigate tendon issues going hand-in-hand with neuropathy?

I believe that tendons are affected by psoriatic arthritis.

http://www.webmd.com/arthritis/psori...ritis-symptoms

I've been having lots of problems with my collarbone lately, and
along the sternum. It is resolving now some, and I wonder if it is because of the Curcumin (CurcuBrain) I am taking now?

Thanks. I checked the symptoms list, and can't say that many of them ring true. I don't really have any joint swelling or stiffness. Still, I'll keep that symptom list in mind.

I also still need to try the CurcuBrain. I tried a bottle of another Longvida, but didn't notice any improvement anywhere. I had specifically hoped my elbow might feel better.

Our alternative/holistic pharmacy here recommended Ligaplex II to my daughter who is dealing with collapsed tendon in her foot, so she recommended it to me and I'm on it for over 7 months....there are a lot of reviews on amazon on it and the main mineral in it is Manganese which is critical for our bones. Some yrs ago an integrative MD did a mineral panel and manganese came up really low.... So you all might want to look at this Standard Process supplement.

With advanced aging and a mess from hip replacement in 2010, I'm wearing down too much. sighhhhh

Many chiro docs sell the Standard Process line, and SP are big in muscle testing.

This is what is in Ligaplex II...

https://www.standardprocess.com/Prod...I#.VWODtUZ53To

This blend of bovine tissue, including adrenal which would have nerves in it)...is concerning...if anyone is worried about Prion disease transmission. the proprietary blend does not tell you how much of each nutrient is in each capsule...I tend to not like this type of product as there is no guarantee you are getting anything consistently in it. So this is up to $40.00 a bottle for very little.

Manganese is very plentiful in most veggies. People doing vegan or mostly high vegetable intake, would be getting alot of manganese that way.
http://nutritiondata.self.com/foods-...l?maxCount=437

One thing tendons need is silica. This is found in vegetables also, like green beans. Bananas are high too. Most whole grains.

One thing we do NOT need is fluoroquinolone drugs which somehow damage the metabolism of tendons and lead to ruptures. It has been years now, that these drugs are damaging people, and still we have no explanation as to how the tendons are rupturing and if there is any way to prevent it.

Here is a monograph explaining manganese:

Don't know if this will help answer your question , but...Before I was diagnosed with PN, I was having severe pain in my hands..more than the pain in my legs and feet....Long Story short.. I was diagnosed with Dupuytrens Contraction. I have found as my NP increases so has my tendon issues. I have been lucky in that my hands have not contracted BUT.. I am now having more and more issues with my Achilles Tendon and tightness in the tendons in calves, ankles and feet. The tendons in my hands are larger now than before but are not contracting. I have also developed a nodule in my right foot on the tendon that goes to the great toe, and, (am getting neuromas in the balls of my feet..which may simply be because I am on my feet all day at work.)

I battle each day with horrible burning and neuro pain but choose to only take gabapentin, (600mg, 3 times a day), an Advil and an aspirin to keep the pain to a tolerable level.

Thanks for the response, gmaw, and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear about your problems.

As great coincidence would have it, one of my best friend's husband has Dupuytrens, so I'm familiar with it. And as even greater coincidence would have it, they'll be visiting me from North Carolina next weekend. His hands aren't contracting yet either, but I believe his father has already had surgery. I'm going to go refresh my memory on the condition.

I assume you don't know the cause of your PN?

This interesting and something I wasn't aware of. I have some blood sugar issues, but am nowhere close to diabetes.

Occurrence of Tendon Pathologies in Metabolic Disorders

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/781970_2

Several rheumatological conditions complicate the clinical course of diabetes mellitus. For example, Dupuytren's disease, characterized by thickening, shortening and fibrosis of the palmar fascia, and trigger finger (also called flexor tenosynovitis) have been found in 10–15% of subjects with diabetes versus 1% in non-diabetic controls (matched for age and sex). Similarly, carpal tunnel syndrome and shoulder adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) have been reported in 11–25% and 10–20% of patients with diabetes, respectively.

My neuropathy is diagnosed as diabetic in nature and I am certainly having muscles issues that appear to be worse at the tendons. I stretch, I massage, I work them and never get more than mild relief.

I have knots in my calf muscles that are larger than the past, mostly because of time contraints. I have 9 million good habits I try to adhere to, but time is limited, work, family and so on taking precident at times.

Any ideas are more than welcome.
