When I first came to the forum, I mentioned this symptom, and no one at that time could relate to it. I thought I'd ask again now.
I have this constant tingling/vibrating sensation in my feet. I know that's common. I also have this interesting "feature" whereby if I touch the right side of my body from my armpit down, the sensation in my right foot gets stronger. The same with my left side. And the further down my body I rub or touch, the stronger the sensation in my foot gets, until I get to the ankle area, and then it stops. Until I accepted it wasn't going away, the first thing I'd do in the morning is rub my thigh muscles to see if I could "feel" it in my feet. Can anybody relate to this? Not completely the same, but when I rub the back of my thigh, I feel a tingle/zing in my foot/toe. Same when I rub my arm near the inner bicep where the ulnar nerve runs. I feel the zing in my pinky.

Yes, sounds similar, but mine seems more widespread.
It seems to be called "Referred Sensation," and I found this interesting study on it involving spinal cord injury and neuropathic pain, although I don't understand a lot of it. They're talking about cortical and neural reorganization. ? http://www.tmslab.org/publications/025.pdf |

Are you on any medication that dampens nerve pain?

I can get sensations in my feet when I press on my hip in a certain spot, while lying down at night.
I use magnet pads on that spot when it is uncomfortable, and it stops rather quickly. I think these are trigger points... where nerve bundles cluster. There are places you can tap (Tinel's sign) in the wrist and ankle and elicit tingling in a nerve. There are YouTubes demonstrating Tinel's sign. Sometimes I can use a Lidoderm patch behind my knee, and my foot is also numbed and feels much better.

It's just so widespread, that's what's perplexing. I don't really understand what "neural reorganization" means but it certainly feels like my nerves and/or my brain are quite disorganized.

MrsD, you mention magnet pads, I'm talking with a group right now encouraging me to buy these magnets and apply then but it's a bit complicated, the red and green magnets and how to place them etc. I'd like to use them on my knee and see if I get some pain relief...would you mind sharing which ones you use...thanks..C
