Default Increased Pain

Hi everyone, I'm after a little help here.
I have my follow up appointment with the Neurologist on Monday.
Since my last posts the pain has increased and is constant in my hip, groin and thighs.
I was starting to wonder if I'm having hip problems that are unrelated to my PN. The nerve pain is in my groin and through my thigh and into my knee on my left side. All my PN started on the left side. Only reason I don't think it is my hip is that I have a deep ache in both my thighs. The 300mg of Lyrica is helping me sleep beautifully but I have constant pain.

Still some memory, organising problems and also with concentration. I will mention this all to the Neuro and see what she says.

The original referral from my doc to the Neuro was with his concerns with my memory and to see if she would organise a PET scan.

Well here's hoping for some answers and hopefully some pain management.

Cheers,

Phil

Hi Phil,

Sounds quite painful.

Are your thighs stiff or just painful?
The pain could be referred pain from a different area.

Does your doctor prescribe pain meds or muscle relaxants, in addition to the Lyrica for you?

I know I need a multi-pronged approach to pain management.
I need a few meds, each taking a different approach to the pain.

Any chance your doctor will prescribe an additional med for you, at least until the neurologist completes the work-up?

So sorry about the pain.

No DejaVu he hasn't as yet. I haven't been back to him for 2 weeks, I thought I'd wait until I saw the Neurologist.

Its just ongoing that's the problem and it seems to be getting worse.
Some times I'm walking with a limp.

But as my wife says Lovingly, "suck it up" ha ha.

It will be interesting to see what the Neurologist says about the pain. If she just goes ahead with a "work up" and nothing else I'll go back to my GP next week.

PS: had a friend of mine pass away Saturday with Asbestosis so my problems are very very small.

Hi Phil,

So sorry about the loss of your friend.

Emotions may have an impact on pain more than we realize?
That's not to say all pain is "emotional," of course.
In my case, I have found sad or angry types of emotions can amp up pain, especially if I hold them in. Happier types of emotions release associated chemicals and lessen the pain. Just something I have noted with myself over the years.

I am glad your wife talks with you affectionately. That's quite helpful!
She is on your "healing team," after all!

I hope you will find relief, pronto!

Warmly,
DejaVu

Thanks DejaVu, I agree about the emotions, they play a great part in every aspect of our health I believe.

Yes she is a great one to keep me level headed and positive. I'm very lucky.

That is what my Dr told me when I told him that I had burning, zapping in my feet and ankles plus deep "muscle" feeling pain in the Lumbar, hips, buttocks, Quads and Iliosoas muscles. Try to do what you have to to get from one day to the next because changes are-a-comin. I don't intend to sound flippant but (in my case) change is slow but seemingly constant. I started out right-side only and became bi-lateral one night lying on my bed in a matter of 5 minutes of "crossfiring". And the symptoms were equally strong on both sides. I hope you don't have a bout of muscle wasting as I did. Mt pain was at its worst after everything from Lumbar down became involved. I am not saying that you can't have two thing going at the same time but I was fooled myself. I hope you get pain Management and can clear the next hurdle. Good Luck, Ken in Texas.

Thanks Ken i appreciate your help. The Lyrica is definitely helping me sleep and I'm putting on weight which is a plus because I'm skinny its when I'm awake its constant pain.

Thanks again Ken.
