Default Fever and SFN
Grabbing at strings.
In addition to several other things, I tested positive for SFN several years ago. I have been noticing that when my SFN really flairs up, I always have a low grade fever (99-100 degrees).

Does this ring a bell with anyone else? I have exhausted getting any relief from several doctors, but I never mentioned the fever connection to them. Wondered if it's at all related to SFN.

I dont have sFn but a toxic pn when i an sick or nerve endings hurt the most.
I feel more numbness its realy uncomfortable.

Most people get this when they have the flue that there weakspots are starting to hurt

My body temperature runs at least 1 degree lower than normal however when I have a bad flair coming I can usually tell because my entire body feels hot. I have not taken my temperature but I will next time. I thought it was from the burning feeling that comes with the flair. I did mention this to my neurologist but he didn't comment on it.

I had a negative punch biopsy but am waiting for my neuro to call me bck to see if he's SFN as my diagnosis. But I do often now run low grade fevers for weeks at a time.

It rings a bell....

Temperature change, both low and high can be autonomic involvement.

When my temps get too low or high something salty with fluids helps.

I get the flu-like feeling too. Electrolytes, like vitawater or Gatorade work good.

I like coconut water because it contains less chemicals. I have access to fresh coconuts and I believe it has plenty of potassium and more sodium then the grocery store brands. I'm not sure how it compares to the other electrolytes found in Gatorade

Gatorade is very low in potassium:
All it is sugar water.
here is a chart:

Gatorade regular has only 30mg of potassium in an 8 oz serving.

Compare to V8... Which is 800+ mg for the regular and about 1000mg for low sodium version. (one can)

RDA for potassium is 4,500mg a day to 4,800mg

Well, definitely no more Gatorade. It doesn't taste very good either. I am sure that I need more potassium in general. I don 't think I'm near those levels.

A low grade fever can also occur with inflammation. And since you say it happens during flares, I wonder if your SFN is inflammatory based??

A short course of Prednisone would determine if it is not only inflammatory based, but also if your fever go away as soon as the flair does with steroids.
